Well I submitted the same image map generated by the premium app and we’ll see what happens. I suspect we could possibly use the promo images feature to and using the original image sitemap plus find and replace would be a quick way to alter the URL. They do allow for a username/password for crawling.

The benefit is it is one of the tools that are used by designers when they downloaded a comp and can’t remember where they got it. When I did web design it was in early beta and I used it quite a few times when clients provided comps they liked but didn’t remember where they found them (google images probably.) They, of course, didn’t understand image licensing, copyright or print quality so they thought the 72dpi 200x300px comp was going to be sufficient for a full page ad and okay to do.

I mainly use tineye to locate images in use or being stolen at this point, since I no longer design. I’ve found quite a few shutterstock resellers this way… I’d much prefer for my site to come up as a source when/if a designer is searching for it…I will make a lot more money selling to the designer directly versus them buying through SS.

it’s not reflecting a real success.. not yet.. I am a big believer in symbiostock and self-selling, but I don’t believe it’s no3 earner this early..

I am on 17 sites and yes, self hosted moves between 5-10 spots from month to month.. I am pretty sure most people who made symbiostock rank that high on the poll, don’t have their full ports on 15-20 sites..

I didn’t vote for self hosted last month…but I can say I don’t have *time* to put my port on 15-20 sites. I’ve been firing agencies that don’t have the traffic/sales volume to get me to payout in under 6-12 months…once I hit payout on them that is. *grumble*

CSP and BS are both on the chopping block. I never did well on DT, so I took payout and left last month. Left iS when they cut my pay several years ago…even though they had the volume.

By the end of next year I suspect I’ll be at 123, SS and self-hosted entirely…unless some newbie comes in with high commissions, a marketing plan and some benefit that will swing buyers their way.

Those are stock sites. I did recently start at the biz card joint, am on zazzle (contemplating leaving, but gift wrap….hmmm) and FAA…but those are imho niche markets and not really targeted towards stock sellers.

I have larger collections with more than 20 images so I took 40% off and figure I can reduce the rate if the page gets lots of traffic and zero sales.

I routinely upload much larger files than 10MB, I have 30+MB files that uploaded with no issues. Vectors are often smaller than their corresponding jpg…so…

What folder do I FTP into? I’m not terribly keen to downsize my files.

Pro is not showing an update for me…nor is SYS showing an update and I’m on 2.8.9…

Renamed them test.eps and test.jpg and received the same error. I don’t usually look at file sizes but the eps is 5MB and the jpg is 10MB (I regularly upload larger files) could that be somehow triggering it? I didn’t try the background file and cannot figure out for the life of me why that one would error.

Leo, is there an “easy” way to write SYS widgets that do not require YOU altering any code?

I.E. If someone wrote a widget to display release info, can they package it in such a way that the end user can just download it, upload it and drag/drop into their images page?

Or a widget for popular images/holiday/promos/etc?

I’ve never written a widget, but since they tend to require less coding overall it might be something I can manage…but it does little good if the end user needs to update filex.php and blah/widget/hooks.php etc. Or that it requires you releasing a new update/version.

Leo, I’ll just chime in and say you’ve done a tremendous job. I need to get a couple things figured out and then I’m going to kick some bucks into a Google campaign and see if I can get something to shake out. 😉

That seems odd. I double checked your robots.txt file to be sure you’re not blocking the bots…it’s identical to my own. Is your hosting company reliable? Downtime or slow server response can impact indexing.

My entire site has been indexed (well except for what I’ve been adding today) as of a couple days ago. Only 220 or so images, but it has only been on SYS for a couple weeks…and sitemaps were submitted a week (?) ago. I have owned this domain for several years though, so perhaps that had an impact.

I’m running the Clean Theme, version 2.0.0, and it shows as my Current Theme. The main Symbiostock theme only shows as one of the “Available Themes”, and I don’t see the Update button or link.

Can I not upgrade if I’m running the Clean Theme?

    Nate

My understanding is Clean Theme has not been upgraded to work with the 2.7+ versions of SYS. Leo has mentioned on at least one thread he does have a version that seems to work (somewhat?) for those that have licensed it. Don’t know what proof/etc you need to show Leo to get that, nor do I know how well it works.

2.7 came out about when I started so I was about to purchase, but didn’t when it became clear it wasn’t working with the new version.

I’m also having the same issue, although not on all files. Some files upload and process just fine, but those that don’t… just DO NOT.

My file names that aren’t going are: flower-tiles.eps, flower-tiles.jpg and crowned-heart-tile-background.jpg

Now, in the same batch I uploaded mayan-god-left.jpg, mayan-god.jpg, mayan-god-right.jpg…etc.

So, I’d like to say we can rule out the – as being the problem. All file names are lowercase.

    Symbio 2.8.9
    Pro 1.2.3
    Imagemagick
    PHP 5.4 (single)
    WP 3.6.1

Anything else you need to know?

Cyberduck is glitchy for me on FTP so I’ve been tending towards just using screen uploaders (since I generally upload small batches anyhow).

What folder do I need to upload into, if I’m doing FTP (or worst case scenario File Manager on CP)?

That would be a work around but it does require a certain amount of faith on their part…that I’m honest enough to refund the amount…and the issue if they purchase the wrong size or whatever. I’d just do it on their first purchase but I think 50% on a bloggee would be silly.
