Andre, one of your earlier posts on pricing encouraged me to bump my prices up a bit. I now have mine priced at $3, $6, $11 and $20. I’ve sold one image for $20 and it felt great to get a fair price for it.

I’m not sure if was intentional but I would suggest that it not be changed at this point. When I tried to revise my poll with some added levels it wiped out the earlier votes and the overall number of voters never reached what it was before.

Just bumping the poll to remind everyone that the poll is here. I think the poll allows you to change your vote too if you’ve moved to a higher level.

You need to go into your PHP.ini file and increase the Max File Size. I’m on Bluehost and they pointed me to an easy tutorial explaining how to do it. Others have reported that the Bluehost tech changed it for them. In any event, try contacting your host support team to ask about increasing the max file size.

There have been some posts on how to do it – don’t remember if it’s here or on MSG. If I can find them I will edit and add to this post.

This one might help explain it:

And try this for a bit more info on the same topic. Scroll down to read info on Server Settings here:

It’s not a program like Lightroom. It’s the “engine” that processes the photos when you upload to Symbiostock. I think my Bluehost site was already using it. Some sites had to manually make the change or work with their host to do it. I think the other process was GD something. If you look above the upload box on your dashboard it should list what you are using.

The potential problem is that some hosts don’t support it but I think it is available or standard in many cases.

Definitely a happy update and glad to hear you have paying jobs coming in too. I’m looking forward to seeing the final results when it’s ready.

Here are a few things that come to mind for me and some might be better candidates for a plugin to be purchased as an add on.

Stronger control over search results – ability for clients to sort by newest, popular, etc. and ability to control default results.

Recognition of plural and singular versions of keywords.

Ability to filter search with secondary refinements, ie: search shrimp, then add cocktail to the search term to narrow search.

I like the suggestion of a stats page to see what is being viewed and most purchased, etc.

This one is kind of a Love/Hate options – I like featuring my network partners in the search but PLEASE give us the option to turn the scrolling on or off, or just eliminate the scrolling completely.

This general stuff is good enough. The refined version is going to be much quicker and prettier…this stuff here is just helping me to know what I can scrap that nobody will miss.

If it’s not too much to ask, would you be willing to mention a few of the features you’re considering for the scrap heap? It may be that something is so comfortable and natural that we may not be considering it a feature.

I like the Latest Images, Featured Images and Similar Images options but it would be nice to have an easy way to change the number of images shown.

I’ll give it some thought and add more to the list as they come to mind.

Guys, Leo clearly said he is no longer working on Symbiostock as he is working on other projects, call it what you want, but retirement seems close enough to me.

Obviously there is a bug, or I am this stupid?

Why is it not being fixed? Leo, when do you have time to fix this, please? I am really worried, you are too busy, and that has me concerned.

I am not here to attack anyone, I am just worried about my site, and I have no way of fixing this stuff. I am reliable on others. WHen the next version is released, hopefully bugfree, I will upgrade and never upgrade again.

    Thanks,

Ron – Not meaning to attack you either but he’s been on this thread 4 times, and started another thread with a request to test some things and respond. I think that’s a far cry from retirement. He can’t be on here 24/7 to offer endless free support, he has a family to support too. It seems pretty clear to me that he’s working on it but these things take some time to discover, test and resolve.

Please read through this thread. You’ll see that I and others were able to successfully register on your site. I was also able to successfully request a password reset. I also offered some simple, quick solutions you could implement if you have a buyer run into the problem in the interim while the solution is being worked out.

I have to say it’s a bit disheartening to have spent a fair amount of time trying to duplicate your buyer’s experience on your site, discovering what did or did not trigger the problem, offer short term workarounds while the problem is being fixed, and I log in here to see another post about your conviction that Leo’s “retirement” is near and no fixes yet not a single acknowledgement to any of us that worked at trying to help you.

I’m confused on what is being suggested and how it would affect anyone with a site now that doesn’t want to participate with additional spending. Those of us that have been on board for the past year have basically been Beta testers. What happens when some of us will spend to take it to the next level and others want to stay with what they have? Could be challenging and bring some bad commentary if those with sites now feel abandoned or coerced to into subscribing to keep their site going (Adobe got a lot of negative feedback for their Creative Cloud service) so it’s worth considering and managing through that so we minimize negative feedback on that.

Are you suggesting the Basic theme continue as is and the Premium theme changes to a subscription if we want to continue? I’m not opposed to some spending but not keen on the idea that I would have to participate with a monthly subscription. I’d rather see a one-time fee to support the upgrades with ongoing basic support funded by the purchases of new themes and plug ins (more like when you purchase a theme at Envato – WP compatibility and other basic upgrades are included with the initial purchase price).

Perhaps, as you suggest, it’s time to take it to the next level. My thoughts on that are:

No more free theme – beta testing is over. Charge a nominal fee of perhaps $35 for the basic theme with support consisting of compatibility with WP upgrades and fixing any bugs that effect basic functionality like registration, image uploads and shopping cart. If the basic theme needs some changes in this initial phase offer a discount to anyone with a current site.

Enhance the Premium theme. Offer a discounted price to anyone with a current premium theme that wants to pre-order the upgrade in order to fund the changes. Have a clear and concise overview of that the enhancements will offer with a targeted launch date.

Ideally, new purchases would fund the small bug fixes and compatibility with WP upgrades in the future. A small annual fee to fund this might be necessary if purchases don’t cover costs, but hopefully things will grow so it’s not necessary. Plug ins could also help in creating an income stream, as long as there are not so many little plug ins needed that it feels like you’re nickel and dimed to death with small expenses. Enhanced support levels with a fee schedule could be offered too.

No, the global search is on Symbiostock.info.

I think Symbiostock.net was the site Amanda set up to host the original tutorials and promote links to her child theme. Not sure what happened that made her abandon everything but I guess she (or whoever had that if it wasn’t her) has just let it expire so I guess it’s up for grabs if someone wants it.

Shotupdave and dp69, if you post a link to your websites I will try to register and see if I get the same results or if I get the same password I registered with.
