I’m Karen, checking in from Long Island, NY, about an hour east of NYC.

I’ve had a camera in my hand (sometimes more than others) since I held my first Kodak Instamatic as a child. One of my earlier childhood memories is sitting in my father’s darkroom watching him develop film and make B&W prints. I loved that clock that glowed in the dark! I detoured a bit along the way, getting a BFA and MFA in Metalsmithing, but I’ve come around again to photography which brings me to the Symbiostock network today.

I shoot a lot of prepared food and ingredient images and what I like to describe as “bits and pieces of the world around me” such as table settings, books, cooking utensils, first aid and safety, holiday images, etc. I’ve been exploring some new directions with my food photography studio shots and I’m looking forward to expanding the range of food and other images in my portfolio over the coming years.
