I have no idea what you mean with copying into the directory. Do I need to copy over files from the parent folder to the child folder and then change it in the WP editor? What if there is an update of the PHP in the parent, the child wont be updated, so then I would have an outdated file on the child?

POint 2 is just a notification email that you upgraded, I think you can ignore that.
I want to stay away from dragonfly, and my child theme is brand new, I never did anything with it. I dont understand why my child theme is throwing my site back to the stone age. Where can I get a clean child theme

Ok. Many people have told me to use the child theme, but I dont know how.
Problem is, when I activate child theme, my whole site reverts back to a look from the stoneage, I dont want that. I also dont want to rebuild my site from scratch, if possible.
Can someone give me a guide on how to activate the child theme and keep my current site look? Do I need to drag over all PHP files from the main theme to the child theme?
And how do I use child theme? How does it work? I have no idea, thats why I am not using it.

RonI dont mind losing changes. I have been doing it like this from the start. I have a workflow now that is working for me. I dont upgrade to every version straight away, so I do it that often.

Leo, all I want for you is to stay sane, and not burn out, listen to your wife. And believe me when I say I am having fun. I love my site, and I love the direction this project is going. I would think, maybe its better if you focus on fixing this 2.9.0 version to perfection, instead of adding new features. With every new feature, new bugs pop up, which needs to be fixed. If we focus on making perfect what we have now, you can take a break, and get energised again, after spending a lot of quality time with your family. 🙂
I mean this in the best possible way, its no dig or criticism, I just struggle to make this sound as friendly as possible, English is not my first language and thats the only way I know how to best say it.

Leo is remarkably responsive to people (like me) who have worked hard to bulid their sites but need a bit of extra help on occasion. And from what I’ve seen, he does it without expectation of additional compensation.
That said, I do believe that those of us who have received extra help from Leo ought to make an extra contribution to support the effort. I paid for Clean Theme 2 and the Premium SYS and the SYS sitemap and still felt motivated to donate an additional amount as a modest way of thanking Leo for everything he’s done for me and others.

Martha, my comment was directed at the OP to explain a few things. Leo has helped me out too, and I have donated to the project as well. My conscience is clear, if anyone here doubts my intentions I would be very disappointed.
