btw. Shutterstock changed the way for uploading vectors this year in two ways:
1. they parsed the metadata directly from EPS without alternate JPG
2. they accepted bigger EPS files up to 100 MB – with an minimum size to 4k in Pixels for vector artboards. (IMHO this bigger Artboard sizes are not easy to handle for Symbiostock)Since Shutterstock changed the upload conditions for vector files, it may be possible that there will be more of these errors in the future.
An idea for Symbiostock would be to optionally exclude vector rendering. So to offer corresponding media only as alternative JPG or unchanged. This would be more resource friendly even for small hosters / CPUs.
What you think about the new Shutterstock-Vector handling?
Hi, there is not quite clear what you mean with an imitation of the wp-content structure. You can define the ss_Media destination folder via the Symbiostock Interface and i think it works different that the media library.. does the plugin work with symbiostock ss_media folder and the amazon s3 cloud?
i use the digital ocean droplet with ubuntu 18.04. I also tested with an additional Volume to my droplet. I’m not the tech expert and so i linked en external ss_media path via ubuntu to my wp-content folder and tryed in a second test to link the ss_media directly to the volume – the bad news: nothing works. i think it depends to the user rights of wordpress.
i would also be very happy to get a workaround if anyone has a solution for that topic.
filesize is not the problem – be sure to increase the WordPress RAM as large as possible. Then files can be bigger in symbiostock than the 14MB from shutterstock.
in my experience, the size of Artboards is more important – i do not have exactly numbers, .. but it seems, that Imagick can work with 1200dpi(?!?) or even an ultra high value to render the JPG from EPS – i’ve not tested this finally but in my experience all works when the size of artboards in Illustrator is not bigger than 1500×1500 pixels and i’m not selling high resolution JPGs
about paths its nothing to say that is not in the documentation. if you will test something more.. lets go 😉

Knutno, .. i have terminal access to my ubuntu server: in the File: /etc/ImageMagick-6/policy.xml –> i have to re-enable the rights : <policy domain=”coder” rights=”read|write” pattern=”EPS” />
I did not know that Symbiostock will finish the hosting by the end of this year. But I think VPS hosting – even if it means a lot of work – is the best solution because the system scales smoothly and can therefore be controlled for any website size. Thanks for your experience, Steve.

Hi, selling vectors is a bit more difficult like, jpgs and it’s definitely a lot of work. If you someday familiar it work’s like any other agency upload _ I can give you some insights:
– if you plan to sell JPG licenses, the alternate JPG upload is recommeded for correct metadata parsing and color handling.
– for SEO reasons, i can not recommend to publish vectors without correct metadata parsing. so i decided first to upload Vector &JPG in draft mode and publish then separately.
– the artboard size in your vector tool is importend for the processor.. in the beginning i had problems and errors with handling and downsizing this kind of huge images // it could be a good idea to test this on local machine
– be sure, if you then publish more than 20 images at once – every server will become very much load. the more products you have on the server, the more power is needed for the processor.
– this server load can block web traffic on regular hosting provider machines and small hosting packages -> so after two years and 5000k+ products, my first hosting provider tells me i have to leave 8)
– i’m not a programmer and have to learn a lot about coding and hosting but i can suggest a virtual ubuntu server droplet with 4 processors and 16bg ram works fine with 10k+ products in database.Now i have 70GB Symbiostock-data and with frontend optimzing (gzip-, js-, css-compression)i will get a good page-speed around 2-5 seconds depending on server and user/request location.
last but not least : selling PDF-licenses could reduces the filesize a lot and can be offered with the Anytype Plugin. I’m not sure if this is the best solution -> for upload them in bulk, firstly i upload an empty EPS and good quality JPG for all media, then i will get with csv-Export product numbers but i#ll only need them for renaming the anytime-pdfs.
.. and if anyone would ask me, if i could do this job for 5000 products, i would take 20k Euros – at least 😉
the host told me he didn’t changed anything in the setup.. but i found the bug on the server:
ImageMagick/policy settings where the EPS settings have to be re/enabled..i don’t know why this setting was changed, but it is solved so far.
thanks for you comment!!..you can try to restart the theme – it means, do your changes, then switch to other theme and switch back to your theme. Let the cron job do the thumbs by changing the watermark size..
yes! i never had such an error – in case for uploading vector files via FTP i get these errors in wordpress:

two things are changed:
– my server host had a scheduled network maintenence update.
– i had some plugin updates (SEO, .. nothing important)
.. i can’t believe, that 3rd party plugin updates should have an impact to symbiostock vector processing.i try’d:

btw. it seems that i had a little mistake in my EPS&JPG – Keywords, .. so finally: yes, it seems, the Keywords will be updated by the alternate Image correctly also with auto-Publish. So the first Problem is solved.

Thanks four your respond. So i will wait to the next Version before i switch to PHP7.1. .. But ii have two problems with the automated publishing:
First: in case that an EPS will be published (maybe i try with process-limit 10 per day) it seems that the alternate JPG will not be processed by symbiostock. (after first renaming in the ftp folder to _ssalt_1234.jpg .. they dissapear with the second run and the media does not become the final image and metadata)
The second problem is: Whenever I later update any media with the WordPress edit or bulk-edit, the watermarked images will change the image-url:
for example the image-path switches from http: // domain / wp-content / uploads / image.jpg to http: // domain / wp-content / uploads / image-1324.jpg .. so it seems the product number will be added.
–> this is a problem for all SEO and social media publishing, in case i have an automated publishing for the first version.Do you think it is possible to put the image number to the image -URL from the beginning?
