Hi , I started getting this error when trying to upload new images . I’m not 100% sure but it seems to have happened after the last WordPress update . All my plugins and themes are updated . Php version on my server is 5.4 and imagemagick is enabled ( I see “ImageMagick (exec disabled)” in Process images ) . Any ideas how to remedy that ?

I had to downgrade back to php 5.3 on my site. I still have no idea why and technical support at my host didn’t seem to know anything either.

    Hi!

I’ve been using a french shared hosting for a while but they won’t allow me to change the max_execution_time, it’s blocked on 30″.

Does Bluehost shared hosting has that limit as well? Can we change it?

Problem is I can’t edit a batch of files at the same time with the 30″ limit…

Please help, my hosting contact ends in 3 days and I don’t wanna renew at the same on I’ve been using…

    Thanks!

I use the deluxe hosting on Godaddy. They’ve been decent to me through the years.

Keeping the payment on your site actually brings up security issues and requires that you purchase SSL ($80ish bucks last time I tried that route for anything at all)

Symbiostock is doing just fine and clipping along at a slow but steady pace but I think it is primed for something great and it may not reach maturity in time. In other words I think Symbio may miss its window of opportunity. The problem is that Symbiostock cannot continue to be developed for free. It just doesn’t work for the developers. Leo has rightfully changed his focus to actual paying jobs with Symbio as something he works on when he is not trying to feed his family and pay his bills. Obviously Leo would be our first choice but if he is to busy working on things that actually make him money I have contacts that would be capable of making changes to the theme. But they won’t work for free. So I am going to ask this question at the risk of getting tarred and feathered.

    Who is willing to pay?
Lets say a $10 per month subscription to continue getting free upgrades and 1 new plugin – or $30 for 2 upgrades per year.
$1500 to $2000 per month would add a lot of rocket fuel to this project and would probably give everyone what they want in less than 12 months. $120 for a spotless theme that does exactly what it should seems very reasonable to me.
We could create a committee to manage the money and make it so that at least two people have to sign off on spending. This wouldn’t be that hard to manage.

    Ok let the flogging begin.

I think like most things that start out open source. The free version of Symbiostock should probably remain free. Especially as people have already molded it to fit their needs. One thing that I’ve always wondered is why Symbiostock isn’t available on the wordpress.org site? Every single person that works with wordpress stops there at least a few times while developing. I’d imagine that’d give a boost to our publicity. generally , with most free applications, GPL, open source or whatever, a great amount of the technical support and help come from the community.

And then, like what has already been done … The paid version would have great benefits for the site owner (extra features, continued support, things like that)

    Hey guys, just jumping in.

I appreciate the concern for the project, by the way.

Actually my old-but-still-practical idea is to simply charge for the cloud version, which will take all the responsabilities of site setup OFF the user, plus integegrate a symbiostock-specific social network among customers and users.

The downside? I don’t have the time I used to to develop.

So – people like you remain FREE. People who are on the cloud who don’t have to do anything but simple uploading and publishing pay a monthly fee.

I think global customer accounts would be a huge step for the usability of Symbiostock … I guess there’s quite a bit of things that could be offered with the cloud that would be a nightmare with the current system.

I wouldn’t be opposed to paying a small fee or percentage of sales if it meant we were moving the project forward.

I got mine to work now, no generation of random password, customer-selected password works. The bug occurred when I updated from 2.x to 3.x, but had not deleted the old emailer per these instructions:
    http://www.symbiostock.org/community/viewtopic.php?p=4683#p4683

To fix, I switched the theme to a WP default theme, deleted the email pluglin (**that’s important!**), then turned my Symbiostock child theme back on. It wanted to reinstall the email plugin right away, let it and it’ll put the correct new one in.

Also, the “a password will be emailed to you” message on the registration can be changed by going to Appearance>editor>Symbiostock (on the right in blue)>register_symbiostock.php (again, on the right in blue). Look through the code there and you change the note at the bottom of the registration form to whatever you want. I believe this is editing a parent theme template, so when it updates I’d gather that you’ll have to go change it again. Also, I have the Pro version, I don’t know if you have access to edit these templates without the Pro version.

Works for me, now, much thanks to Jo Ann Snover who spent a lot of time helping me out with it.

Seems to have worked great. Thank you.

Edit: Also, you can remove the line about the password being e-mailed … I think it’s on or around line 55 in wp-content/themes/symbiostock/register-symbiostock.php

4 people down, 6 up. For those of you who are down, please set me up with an admin account (leo[at]symbiostock.com) and we’ll get this straightened out.

Still the same as stated on the poll. I don’t know when Symbiostock turned into a place to be aggressive to each other the way we are. Almost turning it in to MSG.

Mine is still messed up as well as I said in the other thread on this issue. It is sending the randomly generated password for some reason …

I had the problem with the new upgrade and moved backwards to 3.0, still the same problems

After all of this, I’m wondering why we’re even trying to develop this on wordpress.

I think even Leo could agree that it probably would have been easier to write a new application.

is there a way we can force the password reset option to take the user to the home page at a minimum rather than into Admin.

    STeve

That is a good point. I was moved to the back to the back end to log in again during my evaluation of the problem. Which is probably really confusing for some end users. I wonder if fixing that could be complex enough to add a string of new problems, including being locked out of our own sites though … :/

No, the global search is on Symbiostock.info.

I think Symbiostock.net was the site Amanda set up to host the original tutorials and promote links to her child theme. Not sure what happened that made her abandon everything but I guess she (or whoever had that if it wasn’t her) has just let it expire so I guess it’s up for grabs if someone wants it.

Oh, Thank you! I was wondering where it went!

Yes, can register fine, but the password that is emailed is totally different to what is entered.

Thanks. Comments like these will help me widdle it down. If we are all on wp 3.9 and upgraded then it will be easier to narrow it down to the cause.

Just to clarify don’t click “YES” on the pole if you get a different pass in email than you registered with.

Getting a different password than what I registered with.

Simply “toggle” the theme. Turn it off then on again. It should run the installer which will update your emailer plugin script.

Mine says that a password will be e-mailed also. But, it will let you register just fine with the made up password. Yes, I already “toggled” the theme.

for fotolia, since their reviewers are brain-dead, I just use ‘misc’ – if they take it fine, if not , who cares

same for dp & other bottom feeders — no need to waste time picking categories when they can’t produce sales

these lower agencies produce enuf each month to make it worth submitting, but not enough to spend any time doing their work for them

I just hate the categories on quite a few of the sites … You’d almost expect them to take a bit of notes and make it … easier and streamlined for both customers and contributors. As we use a subscription service at my job as well I can tell all of you that I use very little “categories” I know when I’m looking for a frame, and I know when I’m looking for a photograph to compliment information … The keywords are infinitely the very most important part.

The more I submit the more I hate it, I might not ever make much on this microstock venture but, I’ve definitely learned that people will make money from you … More than you make quite often.

    Sorry for the pessimistic attitude.
