Welcome to all new members…
I’ve just gotten back home after 5 weeks in Turkey and getting back up to speed — I’ve added all the newly announced sites, so if your site doesn’t appear on the global search let me know…
global search at http://symbiostock-search.com
To help you find network partners, you can find other sites by specialty, focus or promoted keywords at
http://cascoly.com/symbio/list.asp?list=72In addition, any site that adds http://cascoly-images.com/pix to their network will receive active links in reports such as http://cascoly.com/symbio/list.asp?list=71
Also, be sure to edit your profile so that your site appears as part of your signature, making it easy for anyone reading the forum to get to your site

June 18, 2014 at 3:36 pm #11163I wouldn’t se any advantage to using my co-op network if you already have a sym site, unless you wanted a separate site (eg, I’m moving my backgtounds & textures to a separate site and will be starting another new site for Turkey)
I plan to continue to maintain the global search across all sym sites, so the co-op wouldn’t be any advantage there either)
the other advantage of the co-ops right now is a high alexa rating, and some inter-co-op linking

June 18, 2014 at 3:16 pm #11354I just got my final payout from fotolia and am closing my account with them

lists all prices — it hasn’t changed much since the start
May 27, 2014 at 7:27 pm #11212definite yes —
I don’t think many people will use it while searching since they know many pix don’t have gps data
butg it could be a really great addition to selling from our sites – especially since most newer cameras include this automatically. one really bad use of gps is when someone just clicks on a large map of the US to tag ‘seattle’ and the image is nowhere near the actual site
having the ability to select which images get coded would be essential (including when doing batch editing), since, eg, I wouldn’t necessarily want dozens of images from the same spot to show up on a map. the key is that we don’t have to key the info in — I wrote a routine to capture lat/long and store it with an image for my global scavenger hunt game so something similar could be added for those images w/o tracking
an additional feature would be a search that would display a map with the images tagged by location, similar to a google search for all coffee shops
definitely would be useful to include this in the image_info files, too for global searches
May 16, 2014 at 7:50 pm #11231I get search queries from keywords that are not always in my desc
and google regularly crawls my global search site using keywords
May 16, 2014 at 7:48 pm #11145definitely recommend imagemagick, but requiring it would be a mistake — you’re risking the reputation of symbiostock on the config and tech support of various host services — when some newbie can’t install sym because IM isnt immediately availablo them, they’re going to blame the sym system!
May 12, 2014 at 12:00 am #11178I had 4 sites auto-upgrade to wp 3.9.1 and all are working fine
I’d suspect a plugin somewhere
May 8, 2014 at 11:42 pm #9599The Symbiostock Network Co-op now has a home page at
http://cascoly.com/symbio/list.asp?list=1001We now have 4 members, over 7000 images and another new member who will be introduced shortly
May 8, 2014 at 11:04 pm #11074the author and network pages need to be overhauled — similar information is scattered over different pages, and other elements like logos are also split up. some info is entered from the tabs at the top, other gets called from a tiny ‘author’ update link at the bottom of network
>> Author Settings — Basic author settings used by wordpress and Symbiostock.
» Network Bonus Info — Special extended info settings used by Symbiostock on author pages and outside network referring pages.both these links end up on the same page
will make it a lot easier to install & edit

I would like to have the automatically generated image number removed or placed in a less prominent place. I use my own numbering system and when a customer asks for this automatic image number it is very difficult and confusing.
right – the wp db needs to generate its own id to avoid duplicates, but this is why it at least needs to provide the caption info so that we can track sales
May 8, 2014 at 2:21 am #11110to refund anything, just go to the paypal details and send a partial refund. if for some reason that doesn’t work, just do a send money to the buyer ( I deal with these issues often thru ebay and it’s one place where ebay/paypal have their act together)
May 8, 2014 at 2:19 am #11037right – the pro plugin lets you customize licenses — Leo has authorized me to offer the Pro plugin to set it up for my clients – so they just need to email for details
May 8, 2014 at 2:14 am #11112I get new users , but I have comments turned off, so they don’t really affect anything and I can keep my plugins to a minimum – if they’re spam, they’ll find they can’t really do anything so it acts as a twit filter
May 7, 2014 at 7:37 am #11070fwiw — images are currently stored at about 440 x 600 for previews
to show previews larger than currently shown, we’d either need to store larger watermarked images, or process the full sized images to add a watermark on the fly
