I guess I just have to set up github again. Give me a moment to finish up a job I’m doing now and I’ll have a new download available. In a nutshell wordpress doens’t consistently tell upgrades, and so I can’t really work around it if it fails to tell you there’s a new upgrade available.
October 20, 2013 at 4:08 am #5017Thats sad. I guess I’ll have to get that github integration back. Its quite a process to get a connected with github, so I’ll try to get that done sooner than later.
October 20, 2013 at 4:07 am #5507If you fully and unquestionably plan to set it and forget it that is fine.
But when the day comes that you need to customize some CSS, a child theme will be needed. Even if you just have a blank child theme liek this one: https://github.com/orangeman555/symbiostock/blob/master/symbiostock-child.zip?raw=true it will allow you to tweak anything you wish without losing changes upon upgrade.
But a child theme is not required. Its just “safe”
October 20, 2013 at 3:58 am #5015Simply upgrade it by updating the theme itself (from the admin panel) it should usually sense if there is a higher theme (though sometimes it doens’t)
Since my computer overhaul I have to re-integrate with github again. Upgrades should stilll work though.

Ideally you should do it all from within your Dashboard > Appearance > Themes.
Jo,
I tried to install the latest Symbiostock first into the existing folder, but wasn’t succesful, I got an error message that destination folder already exists.
.
Then I remembered reading the following post by tdahl:1. Activated another theme such as Twenty-Twelve.
2. Renamed both symbiostock and symbiostock-child folders
3. Installed new version of Symbiostock fresh and activated.
4. Installed fresh new symbiostock-child theme and activated it.
5. Started playing with customizations built into 2.8.2 and set to my liking.So, I did the same thing, but then the install program crashed and displayed the following message:
The uploaded file could not be moved to wp-content/uploads/2013/10Could there be a problem with write/delete permission in that folder or something else?
I updated WordPress to 3.6.1 which worked fine.
Then I also tried to update Symbiostock Professional from 1.1.8 to 1.2.3 which crashed as well.http://www.symbiostock.org/topic/367/make-leo-an-admin-account-if-you-need-help/
October 20, 2013 at 2:06 am #5011This is just an update:
2.8.4 is available as an upgrade (otherwise just download it and upgrade)
https://github.com/orangeman555/symbiostock/blob/metamorphosis/symbiostock.zip?raw=trueThe search bar was changed for the benefit of those who will be upgrading using clean-theme. It has that rounded look. (The fun part was changing the javascript so it loses those properties at resize!)
Also in the customizer (appearance->customize)) has an option you will appreciate, allowing the cart/account/search menu to anchor itself inconspicously at the top (much like 2.6.5) . In found in the navbar options.
These were all integrated due to paying client project with Symbiostock!
October 20, 2013 at 1:57 am #5491For your second question – be sure your using a child theme like Dragonfly or the default child theme. (http://www.symbiostock.com/dragonfly-new-symbiostock-child-theme/)
Upload that and make it your primary theme. Keep the base theme of Symbiostock available (do not delete it) since the child theme only alters it – it does not replace it.
With that mentioned, here’s how to address the fonts:
Go to admin->appearance->editor and add this at the bottom of the CSS:
html{
font-size: 16px;
}Different fonts size differently so adjustments have to be made.
First question:
Agents restrict you to a specific folder, and automatically place you there. Symbiostock can’t create an FTP specific directory for you – you simply have to navigate or do it through CPANEL.
So to navigate, simply log in with Filezilla and you will see the top directory of your site. Then follow this path down the folders:
wp-content -> plupload -> uploads

October 19, 2013 at 6:35 am #4830Nope! They are STUCK!
October 19, 2013 at 5:16 am #4827That should also be on the customize menu, general options
October 19, 2013 at 4:55 am #50032.8.2 is ready if you wish to update from it. I’ve been busy on everything else, I fixed the categories to the way they were – and the “pretty” (interactive categories) categories is an optional template you can use.
I also adjusted some image layouts in widgets to be properly centered.
October 19, 2013 at 4:34 am #5438Hello!
That is done in the appearance->menu tab (admin) area
Notice the tab MANAGE LOCATIONS at the top of the page. Use that to coordate menus. Make a “blank” menu and assign it to account / cart area.

October 19, 2013 at 1:13 am #5417Hi guys,
This theme should not cause any headaches. Literally its a few class replacements, a few class removals — I’d be surprised if it greatly altered things.
The ONLY thing you can expect hugely applies to the whole upgrade anyways – your menus will have to be condensed a bit.
With all that said, if you don’t feel like your hugely in need to upgrade, just stick with what you have. Your present theme does not have any huge faults.
October 19, 2013 at 12:23 am #5414If you’ve already purchased cleantheme I can give you a version which is relatively up to speed with this version…so that answers 90% of your question!
Regarding the “clutter” there are ways to remove much of it, simply small CSS insertions which we’ve already posted for people to use.
If you need me to take five seconds to do a conversion for you I can. I’m trying to do that with a few sites
