On my images pages I’d like to be able make all of the backgrounds black. Any idea how?

If you are on 2.7.x you can change it with the customiser

I am on 2.8.0 I changed everything to black on the “Customize” page settings, yet some items on the images page remain a white background.

You will need to do the remaining areas in css editor I think – I have coloured both of those sections over the last few days when trying to do something else so know it can be done .

If I might comment – the red text does overpower the images a tad for me. My eyes are drawn to the text rather than the images.

Thanks Christine for the comments. What I need to know is what is the actual code for the blocks. Anyone know?

You should be able to change that if you go to the menu Apearance > Cutomise > Symbiostock Image Page.

Change all the colours there as you would like. Mine are all in shades of pale wheat/grey colour.

If you want the whole page black you will have to change the rest under Symbiostock General.

Thanks for the reply but that is where I’ve already changed them all to black. I need to know the CSS code to change the other blocks. I have no idea of what they would be called.

These might give you a starting point, I take no responsibility whatsoever for the results as often touching one thing mucks up something else and some of these affect other parts of the page

The pricing text is (in 2.8.0) bootstrap.css line 302
The line between header and prices is line 1422
The line between the prices is 1410 (but watch it does not change other things as well
Header and alternate backgrounds line 5315
The alternate backgrounds line maybe deleting line 1471

Thanks for the responses, but it is a bit more than I expected 🙁

I was hoping I could just add some code to the Child Theme.

I am not at all familiar with coding but have poked around a bit with the child theme.

Christine, I’m guessing you are saying I need to go into my C-Panel, pick out the bootstrap.css page and open it in a text editor?
I’m also guessing you picked up the info from doing what Cathyslife (thanks) suggested?

Just make sure you play in the Child theme and not the main theme. If you screw up you can reload it or change it back. I’m not a code person by profession but I know enough to warn people to be careful. It’s precise language. It has no “fuzzy logic” like modern operating systems. A colour setting is “color” NOT “colour”. This is very frustrating till you realise you must be precise with things. If you are working with you MUST close those . Even though new browsers are smarter it’s a recipe for trouble.

So be sure to check you set legible background colours and fonts. I should also warn you that it’s easier to read black fonts on white than white on black. Not sure why but usually you can just use a slightly larger font or make it bold.

You do add some code to the child theme, just have to find it first. I found the code by using Chrome and Firebug but have found it is more difficult to change it in 2.8.* than it was previously. Now I find where the code is in the bootstrap.css, copy it from there into my child theme.
Previously I copied it from Chrome Inspect Element or Firebug into the child theme after getting it how it how I wanted. I do/change things by trial and error, not because I know what I a doing.

I usually try and copy the theme onto my computer so I open it there and do a “save as” to make sure I don’t change anything that I might want to use., DO NOT play with the live copies in cPanel, if you make a mistake you get white screens and worse.

Here is a workaround that might work, not sure if its addressing the problem though, in the customiser add a background image of just black.

Thanks all for the help! I am away right now so will “play around” when I return to my main computer.
