PERFECT! the combined images are just what we needed…
can we also get the reverse? have a note on the individual image page that lets people know it’s part of a collection?
meanwhile….have you fixed the problem with not being able to delete categories from selected images in the batch editor? instead it deletes the categpry entirely

Thanks for the answers and the offers for help.
What are the tools used by the artist to draw customers to their Symbiostock website ??
symbio itself was designed to help with seo — in addition the symbio sitemap plugin and that by yoast are extremely helpful — signup for goggle webmaster tools and submit your sitemap there – it’s probably the single best way to get started
October 3, 2013 at 5:23 pm #3410since google doesn’t publish its alogorithms, everyone is in the dark, and the ‘don’t copy’ rule isn’t clear; seo analysts may or may not know the latest details; — all we can do is continue to search for hard data, conduct & report our own experiments and keep shooting for getting indexed
my sites are highly interlinked — 10 – 20,000 internal links (mostly from footers & headers ), but I still get most of my pages indexed. i’ll be trying to get more details from thse numbers & will report here
October 3, 2013 at 5:18 pm #3822if you’re looking to start a website, then those sites are appropriate; if you’re a customer, you probably don’t care if it’s a symbiostock site – instead you’ll go directly to the images you want. make sense?
there are 2 global search sites that also come up on the google search for ‘symbiostock’
let us know if you need any help while setting up your site

No problem. Glad you got it going. 🙂
So am I! Now I too will be among those “in the know” with my very own visitor graphs and charts and stuff. 🙂
you may be the only one who HAS anything to report from google analytics, based on what we’ve been seeing
I suspect the latest google changes broke something in analytics on wordpress sites (my other sites are reporting as before) — i’ve encountered this before (most recently about 3 months ago with my smugmug account), where a verified site suddenly stops working. nothing nefarious, just 2 bits of code that decide to go on holiday
October 3, 2013 at 5:31 am #3406we don’t know about repeating text…
but a separate consideration is whether it’s worth it — if we’re attracting people because of our splendid prose, they’re not likely to be picture buyers! my main emphasis is still to keep image indexing high – and it has continued high
the other traditional way to gain views is thru external links from trusted sources (ie sites google already ranks high)
October 3, 2013 at 5:27 am #3633well, tonight sym made its debut on the msg poll — 1st on the midtier level and FIFTH overall!!

The timeline of this issue seems to match the timeline of this (very significant) change mentioned below:

If I’m not mistaken, isn’t the whole stock image business reporting a slowdown this last month?Slowdown is one thing, but these charts show a drastic decline to almost zero.
Google must have changed the search in a way that does not benefit our network.people are over – reacting — first, it’s only been a couple of days, and google is still working out kinks — that may be why the analytics and webmaster reports don’t agree
and there’s no reason to believe google even has an awareness of the existence of sym, much less be designing algorithms to attack sym; it’s like the newbies in msg who go crazy when they don’t make their fortune after uploading a few images to ss
better google results will ultimately mean we’ll get people who are actually looking for what we’re offering — many of my current visitors are looking for information, not images. 1000 people who don’t want to buy images aren’t as good as 5 who ARE interested.
October 3, 2013 at 1:35 am #3400another reason to add the ability to add text to the descrption in the text editor – making it easier to add links, and descriptions that provide background to multiple images

Basically it says it ranks rich content and contextual content over simple keyword occurrences. Google’s always been moving in this direction, but this is the FIRST big change of this nature in 12 years.
To make it simple, google is more of a statistics machine than a matching machine. The web is becoming more social, so its seeing broader contexts instead of details.
Edit:
I just realized thats not simple enough —
A picture and a sentence accompanied by 30 thumbnails on a page will have a weaker impact than say a picture with a paragraph and little else on the page.
my google analytics are flatlined, but my webmaster searches remain the same ….
also, it may be that we’ll eventually benefit when people are searching for images
meanwhile google continues to crawl thru the global keyword list — here are the latest tags it checked:

I’m wondering why a click on my site (picturebreeze.com) in the table on your page http://cascoly.com/symbio/list.asp?list=65 directs me to a 404 error page: http://cascoly.com/404error.htm . Have I set something up wrong?
thanks for the report — it was a problem in the link I assigned — all were wrong
should be fine now

I wouldn’t be opposed to throwing a couple dollars into some paid Symbio advertising. I’d be interested to see what ideas the community could come up with. ‘Course, I still need to find a couple sites to network with.google adwords are probably eyond us right now — better to concentrate on our own networking
to that point, I think it would be wise to fill all networking slots – you don’t necessarily need reciprocal links for all slots; having all slots filled gives a greater chance of exposure for everyone. later you can refine your connections.
same for promoted keywords, http://cascoly.com/symbio/list.asp?list=31
focus & specialty http://cascoly.com/symbio/list.asp?list=65lots of blanks on those reports! all those blanks are SEO opportunities

….I found that none of the bands really worked well – for example that I’d have two sites that had really different performance end up in the same bracket – so I don’t bother.
most of us probably have the same resuts — eg, many report great sales on dp or veer but they’ve never done anything for me, even with large portfolios. so any one person’s votes aren’t going to b reflected in the poll exactly. if anything it’s important to report on the low earners, especially the ones that trap you for years with their TOS
