In Crome, I have to click three separate play buttons to play a video preview. Can we not just set this to auto play? This seems to be industry standard. http://worldviewstock.com/product/shelling-beans/

February 21, 2016 at 12:31 am #25827Ahh … that would explain why I was not able to even change the size of the Big Play button.. So it is CDN, just for the player right, not the previews. Those are still being played from my server, right?
I realize that you are probably not getting a lot of interest in your video plugin and it may be hard to justify spending too much time on it, but i would really like to see it separated out more from the still image side, with it’s own admin panel.
I would even appreciate the opportunity to have the choice of making my own thumbs and previews, and the option to use my own customized skins with jwplayer, (which is now free) I believe that the quality is better with mp4 previews at the same bitrate than flash, and people can view them on their iPads. I know I could probably do that one by one in each product page, but i would rather have that automated to a script so i can upload them in bulk using FTP.
By the way, what flavor are these “flv” videos? Who is encoding them for you? I get error messages if I try and open them on my desktop using the latest CC versions of Adobe Flash professional or or Media Encoder. The meta data for them are all wiped out in Windows Properties. I can’t analyze frame rate, bit-rate, or frame width and height. Perhaps the next release of the video plugin could at least give us some options on these settings going out to the service that you are using to make these. An option to change the number of thumbs it creates for each clip would also be good. I have about 5000 video clips to upload and that is really going to fill up my media bin with a lot of unused thumbs!
Thanks
Frank

February 20, 2016 at 11:22 pm #25825Yes, but this shuts off watermarking for stills too, which I would like watermarked. at least the larger previews. I forget now why the test with Easywatermark didn’t work out…

February 13, 2016 at 4:31 am #25733I just did a test upload of video and the keywords were still not captured. What program are you using to add your keywords? I am using Adobe Bridge.

February 12, 2016 at 10:28 pm #25730I was looking into a plugin called “Easy Watermark” It has the option of not watermarking thumbs. Is this the plugin that you were talking about that is incompatible with WooComerece? I would like to give it a try but have not been able to find the option to turn off watermarking in the Symbiostock Settings. Is it possible to shut off?

February 12, 2016 at 2:35 am #25726Hey Robin,
That’s great! Thanks for continuing to develop the video side of your program. So often video is just an after thought to these kinds of scripts, that are there but never get developed.

February 8, 2016 at 5:49 am #25714I have to say that I really appreciate all of the efforts that are going in to this artist friendly networking environment for stock media. As a producer and a purchaser of stock, I am excited about working inside an environment that levels the playing field for both the buyer and the artist. I never understood why photographers submitted to “penny stock” agencies. Hopefully, now that alternatives are becoming available, thousands of submitters will pull down their portfolios and realize more rewards for their investments.
I would however like to submit that their is an aspect of subscriptions and credit systems that are desirable and appreciated by people who license stock. I did not fully understand this until I started working for an organization where I often have to license material. While it may be quite easy to do a PayPal checkout when I am working on my own projects, the purchase process at an organization requires paperwork and accountability for every transaction. Even though my organization has given me a company credit card, once a month, I have to file a grueling on-line form for every transaction, complete with a photocopied and physical receipt for EVERY transaction. Lets say I need 100 shots over the course of a month, I would find it extremely tedious to file the monthly report if I was making individual purchases. Even if I wanted to support individual artists more by licensing through Symzio, I would probably just stick with Shutterstock, simply because there is just one transaction a month to deal with…
I would submit that there are ways to set up subscription and credit programs that will benefit both artist and licensee, without compromising what you are trying to accomplish here.

February 7, 2016 at 11:52 am #25712My bad,
Somehow the Product Image Settings in Woo Commerce did get changed.
In case this happens to you….
In Woo Commerce go to settings/products/display
The default settings there should be set to
Catalogue Images 300×300
Single Product Image 623×600
Product Thumbnails 200×200

February 5, 2016 at 7:56 am #25704I think that part of the problem for me is that the video thumbs appear to be watermarked at a higher opacity than the still images

February 4, 2016 at 11:04 pm #25700Ahhh, I see. Thanks for the clarification.
What about an option on whether or not to watermark video clip thumbs. Since you have a completely different service processing the video previews I would think it should be possible to say no to WP watermarking the thumbs that service sends back to WP, and keep that separate from your other image watermark option … no?

February 2, 2016 at 11:47 am #25662Thanks for those clarifications.
I am not sure I want my images and video clips virtually branded Symzio on my site or am I missing something there? Do they only show as watermarked Symzio at symzio.com but stay with my watermark at my site? If you are relying on everyone’s own host to provide thumbs and previews, I am guessing that it is Symzio all the way…. hmmmmm
Also, I now remember my other question. The requested model releases and property releases are only for those NOT marked Editorial, correct?

Thanks for your help with that. I am learning Firebug and can recognize most things but this one eluded me!

January 23, 2016 at 12:30 am #25548Yeah, slowness to load is the price one has to pay for the ease of working with Word Press it seems…. I notice it on other WP sites I manage as well. I wonder if Symbiostock would or is considering marketing the script they have developed for Symzio. I really don’t like the idea of spending 500 hours plus, in getting a new site up and running smooth only to decide that it is too slow. I am a media purchaser as well. I know I don’t shop at any site that take 15 sec to load… Please let us know if you are considering porting all of your ideas over to a Bootstrap script and theme.
Thanks
