I genuinely believe my success is in not trying to be an agency but rather trying not to be. I intentionally go in the other direction and purposely try to reach those people that have never even heard of istock. In fact “stock” is a keyword I don’t even use. My EULA is a little more forgiving and hopefully a bit less complicated.
I, too, believe that it’s important to keep things as easy and straight forward as possible. Many different licenses, or even the promoted existence of licenses, confuses potential buyers and might make them shy. I’m pretty certain that most people don’t (or don’t want to) even read license agreements. We always need to keep in mind that a potential customer just wants to buy a picture without any hassle. That simple.
January 28, 2014 at 1:38 pm #8851I have to admit that I’m not a fan of the menu icons with text being the same color (blue) as the Symbiostock logo. I think it takes away from the logo.
I’d rather see the icons/text in a grey tone and maybe turning to this blue when hovering the mouse over it.
But that’s of course only a very personal opinion.January 28, 2014 at 1:35 pm #8971I don’t mind at all.
January 28, 2014 at 1:27 pm #8922Thanks for sharing.
January 27, 2014 at 1:45 pm #8863Maybe I’m the only one – but to be completely honest – I do not understand your announcement.
I do see the Facebook and Twitter icons in the WP-Admin -> Symbiostock area but clicking on them will take me to “Oops! That page can’t be found.”.
What are these links supposed to do?
Sorry for being a little slow.(SYS 3.21)
January 27, 2014 at 1:35 pm #8854Same here. Site name appeared the first time I looked at the site but was gone at the second time.
January 25, 2014 at 8:13 pm #8825I don’t know either, sorry. Just wanted to mention that I get these EVERY day.
But I also get eMails when other sites (probably the ones that network with me) have updated their Symbiostock theme. I have no idea why I should get informed about that or what makes this my business.
[symbiostock_upgrade] http://xxx.com/ has upgraded: 3.1.6
January 23, 2014 at 7:30 pm #8707I don’t find the threads anymore, maybe JoAnn can help. She has made some code changes.
Things that were changed:
* Let users within the Similar Images widget decide how many images get shown
* Option to turn on/off the image release status to be shown
* Let users set the amount of images listed after image searchJanuary 23, 2014 at 6:25 pm #8712Even IF somehow hacks into a Bluehost server, I think a bunch of pictures would be the least of his interest. And I agree with JoAnn. If you think your home is safer, then setup a web server at home and host your entire Symbiostock environment there.

January 22, 2014 at 12:57 pm #8332I’m glad to see that Leo seems to get his spirit back. Wishing you lots of energy and good ideas. Thank you for all you do.
January 22, 2014 at 12:51 pm #8678He’s talking about making Symbiostock available the way wordpress.com or blogger.com work. You don’t need your own webspace anymore, you can use a “ready to go solution”. You’ll have your site and your images on a cloud server and do all your adjustments there.
Advantages:
You don’t have to worry about the technology (updates, maintenance, bugs etc) behind it.
It’s going to be a one size fits all solution.Downsides:
It’s going to be a one size fits all solution.
Customization will be limited.
You’ll have to pay a fee.January 21, 2014 at 12:10 am #8654I think it’s a bad idea and it will unnecessarily complicate things. With webspace being so cheap and reliable these days, I don’t see any practical benefit of having your site and its content on different hosts.
January 20, 2014 at 6:36 pm #8628You’re right, I just noticed it states “free” reuse. Under these circumstances it won’t make sense, you might even get punished if you try to “misuse” it.
January 20, 2014 at 4:56 pm #8626As long as there is a well visible watermark on the image, I think they will click through to the page and will see how they can commercially use the image.
