I want to get rid of SYXtra as it is apparently no longer maintained and doesn’t work correctly with the newest versions.
I really, really don’t like the cllick to preview though. It discourages browsing IMO because it slows down the process of looking at the details of a set of search results – two clicks to look at everything vs. just sliding your mouse around.
I’m with you on both issues. I’ve still got SYXtra installed on my site for one feature that I like and I know still works: the visit counter. Could we get that feature built into SYS? (If it’s there already, I’m not aware of it.)
And yes, we really need some sort of zoom on hover, as you describe.
Leo, you’ve performed almost every other kind of miracle we could want. Can you find it in your heart to provide those two wonderful features? Thanks in advance if you can!

I brought your site up on my samsung pad and it looks great.
Wow, Dave, I really am glad to hear it looks good on your tablet. Thanks so much for the upbeat feedback!

Martha – your site looks great in both Firefox and IE10.
I’m seeing the same problem MinkyMoo is having with my site, but with different browsers. Firefox looks normal on my laptop but shows the responsive version on my desk top.
Tomorrow I’ll try to remember to check it from my system at the office to see what is going on there.
Thanks for that feedback, Karen. It really helps!

I would suggest that you simplify the number of typefaces and number of transitions you use though. You have a different one for the text over the slider from the one you use for the headings, for example. Given that you’re already changing colors, I think you don’t want so many different colors, shapes and sizes.
On the transitions, I really think simpler is better as you want people to focus on your images, not the flying squares or rippling lines. But if you love one of the more complex transitions, perhaps stick with that and use it throughout the slideshow – right now every one is different.
The only other suggestion is to see if your slider will let you make a link from one of the slides.
Thanks so much, jsnover, for your good suggestions.
I’ve been looking at the fonts and you’re right. The header and slider fonts are different. Problem for me is that the names are close (“Arial Rounded” for header, “Ariel” for slider) so I thought I was in the same family. But the slider doesn’t seem to give me an option. “Ariel” is all I can find. (I think that’s a typo. The font should be spelled “Arial.”) Maybe there’s a back-room way to change the default font. I’m going to check. There’s no matching font in my collection to use in the header.
I kind like the variety of transitions, but I do understand where you’re coming from. Maybe I’ll pick 2 or 3 to alternate, rather than having the whole range of them.
And I hadn’t thought about a link, but that may be possible too. I saw something asking for a link, so maybe that’s what it is. Will check.
This is very helpful! And yes, I think we should all post notes about major site changes if we want feedback. It helps to have fresh eyes on our stuff, especially when we’re spending sooooo much time creating these sites.
As we say here in New Mexico: ¡Muchas gracias!
October 22, 2013 at 10:04 pm #5653I don’t use IE so don’t know anything about it. And I’m not sure exactly what you mean by “Clean Theme trying to run as a mobile site under IE8”.
Could you explain just a bit more what it’s doing?
Thanks!

Beautiful. Love the beach shot. Wish I was there!
Actually, that’s White Sands National Monument near Alamogordo, New Mexico. I caught a spectacular sunset there. The blue in the background that looks like water is actually a distant mountain range. 🙂
I wish I was there right now too!

Is anyone aware of the Clean Theme trying to run as a mobile site under IE8? is there a solution or quick fix to it?
Is anyone running else running the newer Leo Clean Theme so I can check their site to see if its the same on theirs, IT runs fine under Chrome/Firefox.
Thanks
I’m running 2.8.9 with Leo’s new Clean Theme. You can check my site to see how it works on your browser. I’d like to know too!

Unless I am totally missing it there is nowhere to click to get to the profile on the new version (2.8.9). I login to my 2.8.8 live site with as a test user and I can click on the bottom right corner to get to the profile. It is missing on the test site with 2.8.9.
I just switched uneventfully to 2.8.9 and restored Clean Theme. All looks normal on my site. Whew!
When I went in to register as somebody else, the registration form still says “A password will be emailed to you.” Is that something I can change somewhere?
Tim, that Edit Account with PW change IS visible on my 2.8.9. It pops up from the bottom right of the page, right under where it says “Howdy Martha”.

The user/buyer clicks on Top Right Hand Corner > Edit My Profile and scroll down to “About Yourself”. You can enter a new password there.
Oh, that’s great to know! I’m gonna plunge in and upgrade to 2.8.9.

I got quite a quick load on your site. Well within “good” range and nothing to worry about 🙂
You really have such beautiful wildlife shots!

Thanks, Jo, for the feedback on load speed and also the compliment about my photos. Much appreciated!

Thank you Martha. It was over due considering the time and work I’ve invested so far. 😉

Finally.
Took some time to get settled but here we are. Full size image sale: http://picturebreeze.com/stock/photos/image/working-cowboy/Good job, Redneck. You’re on a roll!
And… thanks for the inspiration. I keep reminding myself that sales are the ultimate goal, not just building a fine-looking website. 🙂

Even though the subcategories are alphabetically reversed I think it’s great.
I’ve seen something that controls that order somewhere in the Customizer section. You should be ableto have them go in the correct alpha order if you set it that way.

Tried it again with two browsers and now it loaded instantly. Very fast.
Sorry for the false alarm, maybe a server hick up. Your site looks very nice.
Whew.That’s a relief.
Thanks for the thumbs-up, Redneck!
