really puzzling stuff..
you could create an account on my site using FF, but I can’t..
interestingly my FF works on your site.. the button is not grayed out..
it’s something with my site.. I will try disabling that captcha plugin..
Cidepix, I just registered on your site without difficulty and instantly got an email welcoming me, giving my Login name and PW, plus links. Really nice!
And BTW, I’m using Firefox with a Mac. It worked perfectly on my setup.

Thanks so much Martha, i found it and installed it, that was the problem, everything works perfectly now. You saved my day!
I just describe it here to help any other who may run into this problem.
Click on the line “Begin installing plugin” right below the recommended plugins and you will see a plugin list , some are required and some are recommended.
Under the name of each plugin there is a link to install. Install all that are required. Thanks for your thanks, Alila. So glad I was able to help you!
And yes, that’s where I found the link… UNDER the install message, not above it. My aging brain gets a bit befuddled at times. :/
Now, I suggest you take a flying leap and upgrade to 2.9.2. If I can do it, kiddo, so can you.
October 24, 2013 at 2:52 pm #6048I didn’t find that plugin at first when I upgraded to 2 9.2 this morning. There wasn’t a link attached to the plugin upgrade notice. However, I did ultimately find it in a line above that notice.
That info is gone from my site now (since I’ve already done it), so I can’t tell you exactly where it was. But just know it’s there when you upgrade, even if it’s not an embedded link.
Alila, I think you should go ahead and do the full upgrade to the latest version. Do it before you get too much further into your site develoment. It’s worth doing!

Thanks Leo!

Thanks, MinkyMoo. I found it almost immediately after posting that request and then deleted my post before I spotted your answer. Appreciate your help anyway!
PS… if you want to delete your response post, I’ll delete this explanation too.
October 24, 2013 at 1:11 pm #5910I’ve upgraded to 2.9.2 without incident. Haven’t tested the new login system yet, but I’m sure it’s great.
Thank you again, Leo. You truly are a hero!

Martha, my comment was directed at the OP to explain a few things. Leo has helped me out too, and I have donated to the project as well. My conscience is clear, if anyone here doubts my intentions I would be very disappointed.
I knew/know that, Ron. Nobody doubts you or your intentions. You’re a great member of this team. Certainly have helped me out a lot!
Peace.
October 24, 2013 at 12:40 pm #5767Thanks, Steve.
And I continue to tweak. The font size is smaller now and the text is simpler.
October 24, 2013 at 5:21 am #5765Further update
So, now…
The image transitions are simply fades. No slice-and-dice tumbling photo sections anywhere.
The text slides in and out the same way, right to left. Without exception.
The timing is speeded up. Both image and text move faster than before.
Only issue not yet tackled is the variety of fonts. Mañana. Maybe.
I like the improvements to this point. Much cleaner.
Steve, jsnover, and all, thanks again for your helpful suggestions. I welcome further input if you’d like to give it.
October 23, 2013 at 11:27 pm #5764Thanks, Steve! I sincerely appreciate the critique and suggestions and will keep plugging away on this.
Just too many candies in that “LayerSlides” jar, methinks.

For instance there are quite a few emails I get requesting personal help – nothing that shows on the forums.
I will vouch for that!
Leo is remarkably responsive to people (like me) who have worked hard to bulid their sites but need a bit of extra help on occasion. And from what I’ve seen, he does it without expectation of additional compensation.
That said, I do believe that those of us who have received extra help from Leo ought to make an extra contribution to support the effort. I paid for Clean Theme 2 and the Premium SYS and the SYS sitemap and still felt motivated to donate an additional amount as a modest way of thanking Leo for everything he’s done for me and others.
What I’ve gotten out of this is worth every dollar I’ve paid. Thank you, Leo.
October 23, 2013 at 7:34 pm #5762Followup on my LayerSlider WP home-page endeavors…
I took jsnover’s advice on three things:
Now, the slides all have the same transition pattern. They “slice into segments and tumble forward in sequence”. I discovered how to pick one as opposed to the whole range of 100 patterns, and it is nicer looking. Plus, it’s easy to change to a different pattern from time to time if I want to do that. Like everything else, this plugin has a learning curve. It takes a while to figure out how to control the many bells and whistles.
There’s now a link from each of the 7 slides to its image page, so those are easy to find if somebody wishes to.
The font used on the slide better matches my header now. It’s not perfect (still 2 different kinds of g) but otherwise it’s closer.
Overall, I think it does look better. Less frenetic (for lack of a better word). I did keep the variety of text movements, because their comings and goings seem to add interest.
Thank you, jsnover, for the great suggestions. And if you want to check it out again and give me another round of feedback, please know that I welcome that!
And further feedback from others is welcome too.
October 23, 2013 at 2:16 pm #5830When I mentioned “visit counter” I meant the “view count” that appears on each of my image pages. I really do like that feature and will keep SYXtra installed just for that if I must.
