    When adding license options (a single one or multiple ones) in the bulk edit system we should be able to define one of the license options as a default and the radial button should already be selected when the customer goes to an image detail page. The customer can change it to another license option if desired but one would always be selected solving the legality of the license issue.

    I always thought it was weird that one of the radial buttons wasn’t selected by default already. It’s confusing to the customer and one more stumbling block to buying an image. Everyone of these little stumbling blocks looses a certain percentage of customers.

    So where do we get the upgraded clean theme that works well with the symbio update?

    I’ve been busy the last couple of weeks working on other things and it seems the symbio world has changed a lot in a short period of time. I’m using the clean theme as well, with no special css customizations, and I’d like to upgrade but would also like to maintain the look of my site.

    Leo, if you’ve got a clean theme update and it would really only take a few minutes of your time to update my site, I’m game. Let me know, otherwise I guess I’ll let this all shake out for a bit longer until I get some time to figure this all out.

    Ron – That’s pretty much what I came up with too and ended up pitching the whole thing out. Your right, we need to be able to edit the licenses and they need to look much nicer when there are more than two.

    To add to your point of releases not showing on the image page, I’d like to add that when a licenses is added or a price is changed via the bulk editor there needs to be a way to change just that item and not the rest of the settings on the image page. Every time I bulk edit anything it screws a bunch of the settings up on images and I have to go back a fix them.

    Rights managed licensing can be as complicated or simple as you want it to be. The truth of the matter is while it would be ideal to know exactly who and what industry you are licensing to so that you can avoid conflicts, most RM is licensed non-exclusively. A couple months ago getty licensed an image of mine for over $5,000 gross (haven’t seen one of those for a looooong time) for a major advertising use. The image was licensed non-exclusively. The big price came from the extensive worldwide use they were looking to use it for, not exclusivity.

    Ron, I’ll be interested to see how you approach the licenses as I’d be interested in doing something like that too. I originally tried to set up the licensing in symbiostock to have many multiple licenses. It ended up looking like a confusing mess because the licenses wrapped around rather being neatly displayed each on it’s own line.

    I’m very interested in licensing RM as well for some images. Unfortunately the licensing setup as it now stands doesn’t accommodate this very well. Even though I don’t mention the terms RM or RF on my site I am licensing images as a one-time use which is effectively RM. For multiple uses the client would have to contact me for pricing. Not ideal.

    Instead I’d like to see a very easy to use and understand pricing calculator. Something like the one Picturengine is using would be good (http://www.picturengine.com/app/stock_photo_detail/Puppets_in_Market/image-Mul0123312998.html). I think this setup and pricing came from the Plus coalition. On the backend the calculator contains basic pricing which the contributor can adjust by selecting +/- a certain percentage to move prices up or down from the standard.

    A huge plus side to this is that it would open up the symbiostock network to a large pool of talented photographers who wouldn’t participate without RM pricing.

    I’ll be following Marks progress with great interest as well. Like Easybuyphotos I’ve got a few thousand clips and there needs to be an easy and cost effective way to get all that material online. I’d have to upload non-stop for the next year to get it all onto my symbio site.

    I finally was able to get the video search (using pond5 api) fixed on my site. When I switched the site over to symbiostock several months ago the search broke. I haven’t gotten it all hooked up yet to my site yet but here it is: http://stockfootage.crackerclips.com/search/

    It searches just our footage on Pond5 and when the download button is pressed you’re taken to the detail page for that clip on P5. A buyer can, of course, leave from there and search all of P5 so it’s not perfect but I’ve already got our clips uploaded there. I’d much rather sell our video direct through symbio but this way saves a lot of work, potential aggravation and expense for now.

    There’s a thing that hasn’t been probably mentioned but I believe is really irritating for a customer.
    When a customer clicks on the prices next to a photo (not even clicking download) the image automatically adds to the shopping cart. It’s really quite irritating when a customer only wants to see a full price, for instance for the extended licence. A better idea would definitely be to have a button “Add to the cart” and only after clicking that, the image would be added to the cart.

    Is there now any way to make it work like this ?

    I very much agree with this sentiment. No website that I’ve ever shopped at works this way. It confused the heck out of me when I first set up my site until I figured it out what it was doing. Not many customers are going to put time and effort into understanding that an item is automatically added to cart when a size is selected. The sales flow needs to be setup so that it is completely intuitive to anyone who’s ever bought anything online before.

    I’d actually guess that a majority of the traffic was all of us checking out each others sites 🙂 That’s probably slowing down a bit now. I’ve got enough images indexed at this point that I’m just starting to see regular, daily hits on my site that have come directly from google image search.

    No sales yet by the way. I did have someone register and then abandon their cart. I tried contacting them to see if I could help in anyway but no response. Close but no cigar.

    For those who have personal facebook pages I found I can’t “Like” your page as Cathy stated above and I can’t friend request you from my business page. In those cases, I switched to my personal profile as Bryan Mullennix and sent a friend request.

    After all these years and being fairly proficient around computers I still think facebook’s weird. Can’t ever quite seem to get my head around it 🙂

    Sandor – I originally experienced the same thing with the image sitemap. While the sitemap itself was updating daily it was not being crawled everyday by google. Sometime after a week or two google realized it needed to be crawled everyday and now the totals update automatically everyday in webmaster tools. I think patience is all that’s needed.

    i have given it a few days..

    i went from 56 to 63 images.
    Yoast indeed updates automatic;
    Symbios sitemap does not;

    today i deleted the SYSsitemap on Googles webwaster and added a new one.
    and yes, now it counts 62 images

    (62 instead of 63, because Leo is still keeping 1 for himself :/ )
    (old bug: SYSsitemap = all images -1)

    I set up a small queue of 4-5 images and found that only the 1st image was being sent out over and over again everyday. Sometimes when it went out it had a link back to the image (I’m only tweeting link not the actual picture) other times the tweet had no link at all.

    Just checked on twitter and the auto tweets did seem to finally move on to the next image which it has now tweeted 2x both with no link. I just shut the auto tweet thing down before twitter bans my account for spamming.
