Hi there – you can run it once every thirty minutes but you are going to experience significant performance slow downs in the sense that prices and products will be updated and added slowly. Additionally if anyone makes a purchase they will have to wait till it runs and this may take some time. But other than that it should be okay.
March 5, 2018 at 12:11 pm #32149Try uploading a large image and running the processor manually after disabling the cron job to see if it processes correctly. If it does not show up properly in WordPress you will see the error there.
As for memory, there are two different “memory” limits – it is not exactly clear at times, but the PHP memory limit is slightly different than the memory limit applied outside of PHP to the whole hosting environment. For example, to process vectors Symbiostock Hosting can provide a 10GB burst memory limit at times as that is how much memory is required to process vectors. So the PHP memory limit shown in the diagnostic is not actually as important as the overall memory limit applied to your hosting account. This is something you will have to ask your host.
March 3, 2018 at 11:35 pm #32144Hi there – if the image is stored and the product is created but no thumbnail exists then it is plausible that the processor is not processing the images correctly. This would be related to the hosting environment somehow having issues – likely memory, but could be something else. Please run the diagnostic to see if the test JPEG gets created – if so the processor should work fine, but not definitely. My guess is it is a memory issue in your hosting environment. Try disabling the cron job and running the processor manually after uploading an image. If it crashes it is likely a memory issue.
March 2, 2018 at 12:37 pm #32138Hi there – it is not required at all to run smoothly. The only caveat is when you update titles, keywords and descriptions in WordPress, your actual images will not have that metadata stored in them. Having metadata stored in them makes them autonomously populated so if you were to download the images or submit them to agencies, all of the content would be there. Without exec commands this is not possible, so your images will remain ‘naked’ so to speak in that they will only be titled within WordPress. If you download the images or export them they will look exactly as they did when you uploaded them.
March 1, 2018 at 5:30 pm #32129Hi there – welcome to the community, and your question is a great one – no need to apologize.
We used to always keep Symbiostock up to date with every version of WooCommerce that was released. However, at about 2.5 or so, we realized that WooCommerce does not always do the necessary quality control checks prior to release and introduced some site breaking bugs that affected a lot of Symbiostock users. Due to this, we had to scramble to warn users not to update to the newest version of WooCommerce, and actually had to fix WooCommerce’s bugs within the Symbiostock code for those who had.
As Symbiostock goes through heavy quality control checks prior to release (we have not had one release that introduced serious bugs or breaking actions) we decided to include WooCommerce into our own quality control procedure. As a result, to maintain and ensure maximum stability, we only update to newer WooCommerce versions when it has been established as stable, and when it is required for an upgraded experience for Symbiostock users. Right now, the WooCommerce version that Symbiostock is compatible with provides all the functionality required to run Symbiostock. If there are any new features you would like that are only available in newer version, do let us know and we can consider updating compatibility. However in general, newer updates don’t generally mean better or more stable, especially in the WordPress world, unless the team behind the software updates rarely and only when upgrades are necessary, and after heavy quality control checks.
I hope this answers your question.
March 1, 2018 at 5:25 pm #32128Awesome, great! By the way, if you’re satisfied with the software and the team, please don’t hesitate to leave us a positive review on WordPress – we really appreciate it when satisfied users give us some positive feedback on the plugin review page:

Thanks!

That should work I believe – just make sure the IP you have listed is the correct one. HTTPS cannot be activated as far as I know however while the DNS does not propagate correctly so if you’re trying to demo it on an HTTPS site that may be the problem. Other than that I’m not quite sure.February 25, 2018 at 3:45 am #32107Hi Graham,
Yep, that should work much better without issue. You can likely migrate the database and site directly and it should work out of the box. Just make sure to add the processor via cPanel. There are clear instructions here:
http://www.symbiostock.com/setup-installation-guide
to get your Symbiostock site running from start to finish on Symbiostock Hosting, with a perpetual, free SSL certificate if you so wish.
February 23, 2018 at 7:08 am #32092Hi Graham – thanks for sharing the details of the ticket. Yes, as expected the processor is not completing properly.
The memory limits imposed by your host are not good for media processing – this is not unique to Symbiostock at all, and is a basic requirement of processing images. The price updating feature of the processor does not use much memory at all but if thumbnails need to be regenerated or new images processed, and especially if customer sales images need to be created, you need a reasonable amount of memory. The best suggestion I can make which will guarantee that your client’s site will function without issue is to hop into Symbiostock Hosting which has more than enough dedicated resources to each client so that thousands of images can be hosted without issue:
Other than that, it just appears as though your current web host specializes in more low key sites and is unlikely to be able to support a media sales website. I also think if you were to find an alternative it is very unlikely it would function on the same host as we have stripped Symbiostock down so the media processing portion is extremely light.
