I’m probably a little slow.
I do understand the purpose of placing qr codes in print media but what’s the reasoning behind placing it on your own website?

You and I both must be slow, Redneck. 🙂 Reading this thread, I kept wondering the same thing.
If the point is to get people to your website, how does putting it on your website accomplish anything? Explanation, please!
October 1, 2013 at 12:22 am #3570Congratulations! That 1000th image is a real milestone. I know because I just got there about a week or so.
What a great feeling. It takes a long time to get to that point so… celebrate and be happy!

Yes, that worked. Thanks for the tip, Cathy. I’ve never even set that up for my other site, so once this one is done (whenever that is, if ever) maybe I’ll think about doing it there too. It matters more here than there, methinks.
Next question… are you guys pasting that code onto every single image page? And if so, can it go anywhere on the page? At the bottom of the other coded text, I assume. That’s what I started doing this evening. It will take a while if needed on every page. Good busy-work project for when there’s nothing else to do. 🙂
Probably should start a new thread, as we are hijacking this one about the decrease of number of visitors.
But you dont have to paste in every page…there is a google analytics item under settings in wp dashboard…you paste your ua number there and wp does it. Install plugin ” google analytics for wordpress”.
Aja! As usual, Leo has concocted a simpler solution. I’ll go check that trick out now.
EDITED: Nope, rereading your post I see this isn’t Leo’s concoction but a WP plugin. Whoever came up with that solution wins kudos in my book!
Sorry for the hijack if I’m the one who did it. 🙂

So now I’m trying to figure out how to add bestnaturestock.com to my GA account (or set a new one up just for that). It doesn’t give me the option of selecting that new site, just my old one.No clue how to do this. Do I need to delete the older site to have GA on the new one?
You can have multiple accounts, so no need to delete the old one. Here are instructions:
https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/1009694?hl=en
Click on ADMIN and in the Account column, click the heading, then go to CREATE NEW ACCOUNT. David almost had it.
Thanks, Cathy. I spotted that earlier but I thought I already had the account I needed. I’ll give it a try.
Much appreciated!
September 29, 2013 at 8:55 pm #3350Thanks so much for the directions on how to find Google Analytics. Whew, there is a lot to figure out and set up here!
I followed the links and found that my older website (marthamarks.com) already has a GA account, but of course it never has been used because I didn’t know it existed. Hmmm. Maybe I set it up years ago and forgot about it? Guess I should try to use it somehow from now on.
However, the GA setup tells me this:
Site: http://bestnaturestock.com/Linked Property: This site is not linked to any web property in your Google Analytics account.
So now I’m trying to figure out how to add bestnaturestock.com to my GA account (or set a new one up just for that). It doesn’t give me the option of selecting that new site, just my old one.
No clue how to do this. Do I need to delete the older site to have GA on the new one?

JH refused to help as they said it was not directly their problem but software. I really hope the customers start flocking in soon so I can go to a host that backs up properly and helps with all features.
Well, that’s weird since Bluehost didn’t give me that run-around at all. Maybe it’s because I am paying for the “premium” (I think it’s called) hosting for (I believe) $19.95/mo. They ought to give everybody better service, but I really can’t complain about how they’ve treated me on several occasions when I’ve contacted them for help.
September 29, 2013 at 3:26 pm #2894Christine, I’m so sorry to hear you’re having a repeat of my problem. Maybe you need to contact your server for help. That’s what did the trick for me.
Things are stable on my site now, so clearly it can be fixed but I’m holding my breath until the next out-of-the-blue whammy.
Good luck to you.
OOPS! I missed your update. Hope the new situation holds.

Where are you finding these graphs ?

I’d like to know that too, because I find reading the Google WT feedback confusing and frustrating. Does anybody know of an article or blog that could help us make sense of what all that info actually means?

Are u adding new images? If google keeps seeing same stuff it might think site is dead
I’ve been on an extended trip since Sept 3, so not uploading as many as in August, when I was home. But I am uploading a few every day (old images for me, but new — and newly renamed for SEO purposes — to my site) when I can get wifi connections.
Once I get all my trip-related material processed, I plan to slip those images into my site slowly over the winter, to avoid that risk you mentioned of “looking dead.” Especially important since I won’t have much new to add until spring.
I am amazed that you would not have anything to add until spring, are you not going to make a trip to the Bosque this winter?
Oh, absolutely! I’ll be down there at least once during the winter, as I usually do. But how many shots of Snow Geese and Sandhill Cranes can one add to a portfolio that already has a good many of ’em?
I’ll also add more shots of the Sangre de Cristo in fall, Santa Fe in snow, etc. But let’s face it, most of my material is birds and critters… most of whom have already taken off for points south or are laying on the fat for their long winter naps.
Plans are to get back to writing during my slow photo season. 🙂

I’d actually guess that a majority of the traffic was all of us checking out each others sites 🙂 That’s probably slowing down a bit now. I’ve got enough images indexed at this point that I’m just starting to see regular, daily hits on my site that have come directly from google image search.
No sales yet by the way. I did have someone register and then abandon their cart. I tried contacting them to see if I could help in anyway but no response. Close but no cigar.
I’ve thought that too, Cracker Clips. We’ve all taken peeks at each others’ sites by now so… not so much in-house visiting at this point.
Plus… for a long time, we were all learning the ropes in full view on MSG. Lots of strangers were probably checking us out, watching our progress. Now that we’ve formed our own online group, we’re not so visible to the outside world.
I thiknk this situation will improve over time, as people “out there” find more and more of our images via Google, etc.
September 27, 2013 at 2:51 pm #3323I’m seeing the same thing. Thought it was just me. Actually glad to see it’s not just me, but still… wonder why that is?
September 19, 2013 at 11:09 pm #3000Yep, very impressive!
I’m proud to be in that average group of sites, with (as of today) 1020 images, all of them Yoast-ified and slowly but surely getting indexed on Google. Now, merely another 500-600 to go. 🙂
