    No answer, but a question.

What extra plug-ins are you using?

Leo’s site map? The premium plug in?

Is the images number a “name” you gave the image, or is it a number that Symbiostock provided?

I have done some editing…. does this work for people?

For potential creators of a Symbiostock site.

Symbiostock is the easy-to-use, fair trade network of photographers, videographers and illustrators that offers you the chance to sell directly to buyers and receive 100% of the sale. It also offers you tremendous marketing power by allowing you to link your site to other artists’, building on each other’s marketing efforts and increasing exposure to your work. Buyers can search multiple portfolios with just one click.

With Symbiostock, there are no levels to reach. No surprise price reductions. No approval process. No waiting period to sell images or get access to your earnings. You decide how much to charge. You decide which images to sell. You connect directly with buyers, building your own contact list and your own brand. You decide because you create and manage your own independant web store.

When you start to create your site, you’ll find we’ve done most of the work for you. Follow the step-by-step instructions and video tutorials at symbioguides.com to build your site. Then, visit the free forums at symbiostock.org to connect to other artists and build your marketing power.

The Symbiostock network gives you 100% royalties. No fees. No Commissions. Greater artistic freedom. More flexibility. And the chance to build alliances with fellow artists. All for just the price of your own web hosting (a little more if you want to add specialized add-ons and plug-ins).

Edit I think there needs to be a call to action at the bottom…visit symbiostock.com for more info about this great open source wordpress theme.

I guess you can consider me a bad client too then because i agree with what cidepix has said. He is only telling the truth about what SY is and isnt, and i dont see any “jumping down throats” or ” smackdowns”, as you also like to say, going on.

It is very important that the message that goes out is correct. Everyone appreciates the time you have spent on this, but if you are unwilling to listen and the wrong message gets out, it will do no one any good.

I only see cidepix giving you constructive criticism, just as i tried to do in another thread. He thanked you once and apologized three times in his message but you didnt notice that. You are immediately offended, and in your post below have even resorted to likening people to istock forum moderators, in essence name calling.

If you think SY is the plague, perhaps it is best that you do avoid it. It does take patience to get a SY site going, and not everyone will be cut out for it.

OK Cathy and Cidpex show us how to do it right!

What was provided is a much needed MARKETING piece. Is it 100% accurate…no, but it does it job of getting people interested which is what we need. Can we tweak it..sure.

If all you are going to do is shit all over someone elses hard work, then you have to be able to offer alternatives.

    I like it. Well done!!!

Couple of quick things I noticed

    A) Forums are at Symbiostock.org, not Symbiostock.net.

    B) The line:

When you join, you’ll find we’ve done most of the work for you. Just sign up for hosting and a free domain name at bluehost.com.

Makes it sound like bluehost is the only site that can be used. It is the one the Leo recommends but any decent host will do, and if you already have your own domain and hosting, it is a breeze to add a Symbiostock wordpress site.

Maybe change it to….”Just sign up for hosting and a domain name at sites such as bluehost.com”

trackbacks are a different type of comment. It has a link imbedded in it to another site.

Trackbacks can help with your SEO I think.

If the comment doesn’t help your image or you don’t know the commenter delete it.

If it’s 500:1 ratio doesn’t explain why some are getting sales right off the bat so that must be the exception to the rule.

There are always exceptions to every rule…. 🙂

I think we are all working/ struggling with how to market ourselves.

I am of the opinion that if we concentrate on letting potential buyers know that Symbiostock exists we will all benefit.

I can’t remember where I read it, but somewhere it was stated that the usual visitor to purchaser ratio on the net was 500 to 1.

Therefore the amount of traffic you have ( and I have as well) is not enough to sustain our sites.

I know there is a lot of work people put into SEO for google, but I don’t think we can just count on Google for the traffic.

Making sysmbiostock.com the main go to point makes sense… but it is one person’s site and it is up to them to decide what to do. same as .org .net etc.

Your other ideas are valid, if Symbiostock were to become an organization/company/co-op/whatever. The thing is that symbiostock right now is just a loosely based network of self owned and operated sites that use a common frame work and theme.

Does it need to become more than that to prosper? Who knows.

In the future there may be a collective that forms that may need/want to get better organized than symbiostock is.

Trademarks are not worth much if you are not willing to fight for them ( court costs etc…) A lot of money can be spent for no real purpose.

In my opinion the way to keep trademark trolls at bay is to create such a buzz about Symbistock that anyone would look foolish to try.

I don’t think Google or Linkin care about linking to your site…but to keep the group from becoming a “hey look at me” it might be better to have some content around the link to your site….as an example… “please check out my latest blog post about the power of key words”… or “could you look at these images and tell me what you think of the processing”…

As for images, I would say link to larger images with a watermark.
