I don’t think so – Google has said it thinks most people should be doing it, but few sites are doing it yet. In September there are going to be free SSL certificates so maybe in the future it would be worth switching to full HTTPS. I’ll probably post about it later on.
Edit: I’m not too keen on doing this because I think it creates unnecessary overhead. Initial connections to HTTPS websites always include additional slowdown due to the encryption, and it’s totally unnecessary in 99% of the cases. We’ll see as time goes on. I don’t think it’s going to be a relevant issue for the next year at least.
July 24, 2015 at 5:40 am #23606I have added a fix for this on our PLUS servers and ORG site, and this will be useful for all you standalone users:
add this:
$_SERVER[‘HTTPS’] = false;
to your wp-config file. Google is apparently going to fix this error in three days, but if you don’t want to lose visitors for 3 days, there you go. If, like Henri, you run your entire site on HTTPS already, this probably won’t affect you.
July 24, 2015 at 2:52 am #23604Symbiostock PLUS Video Support Preview
If you’re a stock videographer, this is the good news you’ve been waiting for. Video support is on its way to Symbiostock PLUS. This means you will have the ability to sell your stock footage directly from your own independent store. Your customers will be able to view demo videos, complete with custom watermark protection and instant… Continue reading –>
July 22, 2015 at 9:54 pm #23590July 22, 2015 at 8:00 pm #23589You sure can. It’s all up to us, as contributors, to promote each other. Some people will use widgets, some won’t. I personally would love to have other people’s images on my site so that visitors get a richer experience. I’ll see if I can work something out for your HTTPS issue as I hadn’t thought of that before.
July 22, 2015 at 7:31 pm #23587Great question – currently, as the images will be hosted off the individual sites, we cannot guarantee that everyone will have https enabled, or even have valid SSL certificates. In the future, Symzio will host all the images itself, but this is part of a later development stage.
So the answer is that currently, if you have an https, it is recommended those pages not display the widget. There is no way to prevent a mixed content error unless we pipe the images through Symzio, which will add unnecessary overhead to their loading. If people do want this option, however, we may opt to do this so it will work both in HTTPS and HTTP protocols.
The good news is the widget has a setting for this so it can auto-disable when/if https is the protocol being used.
July 20, 2015 at 2:49 pm #23563Hey Geraint,
Actually, there are a number of third party plugins that can achieve this function. I will look into finding the best one and add it to the PLUS server. There are a number of WooCommerce addons I am going to be adding to the PLUS server very shortly. One of the benefits of running in conjunction with such a popular engine is we benefit from the plethora of extensions that already exist for it.
July 20, 2015 at 1:57 pm #23562Hi Geraint,
It depends on what changes you are making. Pricing, for example, can be bulk changed. If you change the pricing in the global licenses page, all you have to do is click on ‘Update prices?’ and submit. Then it will automatically update all the prices for that license on all the products that have it assigned.
Another bulk feature is the adding or removal of licenses. If you assign a license to images, for example, via the global edit page, you can click on ‘Update licenses?’. This will add that license to all the raster images. Likewise, if you disable it for rasters and do the same thing, it will remove them.
The maximum dimensions is altered in real time so all you have to do is edit the license globally and it will update it immediately.
Finally, if what you are looking for is the ability to bulk assign/remove certain licenses, this is not a feature yet, but I will look into it. The biggest issue with this is that by default, the wordpress bulk edit form does not pre-populate, obviously, because it can’t determine what the preexisting data may be for multiple products. So if this feature were added, it would be an overwriting system which means that you would have to select all the licenses you want every time you edit it.
I will be adding more bulk edit features, such as licenses you apply only to editorial images, etc. What I may do is add neutral flags to images just so you can internally join certain images and then bulk assign them that way.
July 17, 2015 at 2:30 am #23553Hey jcksndrs,
Unfortunately, Symbiostock is built on WooCommerce which is mainly meant to be a commercial way to distribute media. The ability to provide free downloads exists, but they would still have to go through a checkout process. It is possible there is a plugin for WooCommerce that enables the functionality you are mentioning, however.
Further, all the images you upload through Symbiostock are in secured locations so that they cannot be accessed directly by the public. Again, these are all geared towards a commercial product that could also provide free downloads, but is not built specifically for that purpose.
I found this thread where someone is looking for what you are speaking of:

But it does not matter what domain name they put – as it is a trial account that will expire on its own, it can be used just for user registration. It’s not ideal, but as we’ve connected the user registration with the site creation, it would be a lot of work to separate those two.
July 9, 2015 at 11:21 pm #23533Hey Henri,
It is supposed to show up right in WordPress, but for some reason wp-updates isn’t showing it properly. I’ll post the relevant updates in threads from now on so people can see it here.
They are very minor and should not have an impact on your child theme:
July 7, 2015 at 3:04 pm #23523I just tested it and it looks like they need to have created an account in the PLUS system to be added. They can do this and even if their hosting account passes its trial, their user account should still be enabled. So if you want to add users, just have them register as normal through the Symbiostock PLUS system then add them to your user area through their email address.
It appears WordPress wants each user to have a fully registered account in order to be added to individual sites.
