    1. Larger Preview Images (best having the option to set the size in admin area)

    2. More Payment Processor Options (or just add stripe.com to keep clients on the site when checking out and to make image downloads available after payment without any registration)

    3. Magnifier for “Full Size Detail View” on Preview Images

    4. Quantity of “Similar Images” in the SI widget needs to be an admin area option

    5. Social Media Sharing Options for preview images with back link to the image page

    +! again!!!

Stronger control over search results – ability for clients to sort by newest, popular, etc. and ability to control default results.

Recognition of plural and singular versions of keywords.

Ability to filter search with secondary refinements, ie: search shrimp, then add *bad word!* to the search term to narrow search.

I like the suggestion of a stats page to see what is being viewed and most purchased, etc.

    +1 to those, too.

Wish: ability to rank images 1-2-3 and have the #1s show up at the top of a search page.

this stuff here is just helping me to know what I can scrap that nobody will miss.

I think that’s part of the worry some of us may be feeling.

As scenicoregon said, there’s a fear some really nice feature may disappear simply because it never occurred to one of us to mention it.

Add me to the list of those who don’ t know what a “Dublin Core” is or what the “Cart Manager” is all about.

There isn’t much about Symbiostock that I don’t like, but (as I said above) I do agree with the items on Jo Ann’s list.

Here are a few other ideas for improvement (and I may come back with more):

    1. The “new” zoom feature is much better than the original was, but I still have problems with it opening up halfway off my pages or expanding into a large gray box that somehow sticks to the side of the browser window and won’t close even when I move my cursor away. Does anybody else see this happen?

    2. I still miss the capacity we had early on to rank our images 1-2-3 and have the best ones show up at the top of a page. Any chance to get that back in the “cloud” version?

    3. I have kept the old SYXtra plugin active for one simple thing: the view counter for each image page. Sure would be nice if that could be built into SYS so we wouldn’t have to depend on an outdated plugin forever just to have that one sweet feature.

    4. Every time I update to a new version of SYS, I have to go into the guts of the system and restore some tweaks that I made six month or more ago. It’s challenging for me even to navigate to the right place to change the code. Although I’ve done it several times now, I just dread having to do it again, and on several occasions it has made me slow to upgrade. Can anything be done to make that kind of tinkering easier for us non-programmers?

Thanks, Leo, for everything you and others are doing now to make this an even more phenomenal product!

This is very hard to answer, because I’ve no idea what is expected to stay no matter what, and what might disappear if no one speaks up because they didn’t think to mention that item.

    +1

Leo, the question is almost too big for me to address. I like so much of this system! Much easier to point out the very few things I’m not as fond of.

    Things I’d get rid of:

    – The RSS feed on Categories
    – The author description on the image pages (just the name with the necessary tags for making copyright ownership clear) – name linking to the About page is fine
    – Limits on # of network partners (have as many as you want)
    – The Symbiostock Community link on image pages
    – icons in front of headings (keywords, categories, similar images, logout – everywhere)
    – cart manager (perhaps I don’t know how to use it?)

    +1 to all that!

I frankly don’t care much about new plugins, although they might be helpful to some. However, it would be wonderful to have a professional on retainer, “watching over” Symbiostock and “on call” when problems arise. Maybe when you get back from Turkey, we can seriously address this need.

Like Steve Heap, I’m in this for the long run. I’ve put a ton of time and effort into my site. I believe in this kind of cooperative/community effort, and I’m willing to invest to make it work. But unless others are equally committed, it will likely die a slow death, and that would be a shame.
