Thanks! I definitely would not have taken someone’s without asking. On the photographer forum that I am on it’s a huge no-no to take without asking when it comes to wording, forms, releases etc. Usually people are great at sharing when asked, or at pointing people in the right direction.

Glad for the help, this is definitely a learning curve for me. I love shooting, editing, etc. the business side of things is my weak point.

Thanks! I wasn’t sure if taking it from somewhere else, or someone else was a faux pas. Or if there was some blank/generic site that everyone knows about that I was unaware of.

    I greatly appreciate your help!

I would love to see more tutorials up as well. I truly believe that this can work, but the work involved in setting things up (for those not familiar with setting up a website, hosting, etc) is a definite roadblock.

I’ve definitely found the tutorials on the SY site to be extremely helpful, I only with the guides were complete. As I am at a standstill when it comes to setting up PP. Having to search through multiple threads on here as well as on the Microstock forum has made it a slow and rocky road.

Hopefully the guides get put up soon and those of us who are not computer savvy can get the ball rolling much quicker.

Thank you so much for the warm welcome. I will definitely be working hard to produce images that are viable, and I will be plucking away at the site for some time. So I have lots of time for research.

Well, I am on a photographers forum. In a very roundabout way there was some discussion on people starting into stock photography as someone on the board had just sold an image for a large amount ($$,$$$) with Getty. Some were mentioning how to get noticed by Getty, others were talking about being a part of Dreamstime as well as iStock. Anyways the long and short of it is that someone mentioned Stocksy and I decided to go hunting around and see what sort of potential there was in stock photography.

I wanted to do my research before blindly jumping into an agency.

I ended up finding the microstockgroup forum. I have applied to Stocksy, and was about to upload to dreamstime and possibly SS when I noticed some people mentioning SY. It sounded like something appealing and interesting. So here we are. I will likely take longer than most people putting my images up because I want to present proper images that are true to my own vision and ideas.

I do hope that I’m not unwelcome here because of my lack of stock background. I guarantee I didn’t just buy a DSLR yesterday and decide to jump in on AUTO. 😉 Although I do understand if my noob status casts me as a bit of an outcast. I am making sure to do all my homework ahead of time, even if it means the launch of my site takes months instead of weeks.

Thanks for the pointers! This is going to be a huge learning curve for me, so I am grateful for all the help. What’s life without a little (a lot) of chaos?
