I am new to this, so please excuse my questions.

I am not sure where to find proper wording that I can copy and edit for the customer license agreement. I’ve looked at a few different SY sites and there seems to be all different methods of doing this.

I am just wondering if there is a generic form that I can customize and use on my site?

Or is this something that I have to go over with another person (legal)?

I think some people started from a sample and relatively simple form. I took another version from one of the stock agencies and modified it to meet my requirements. I personally don’t think you need a lawyer, but make sure the text says what you want it to say. By all means use mine at BackyardStockPhoto.com, but I offer no warranty with it!!

Thanks! I wasn’t sure if taking it from somewhere else, or someone else was a faux pas. Or if there was some blank/generic site that everyone knows about that I was unaware of.

    I greatly appreciate your help!

i have also taken one of a symbiostocker that in the old MSGforum said: use mine.
i paste the text in word and changed it to make it fit my own desires and than paste it in the page.

Thanks! I definitely would not have taken someone’s without asking. On the photographer forum that I am on it’s a huge no-no to take without asking when it comes to wording, forms, releases etc. Usually people are great at sharing when asked, or at pointing people in the right direction.

Glad for the help, this is definitely a learning curve for me. I love shooting, editing, etc. the business side of things is my weak point.

I’m also looking for a kind of open-source TOS. At the moment mine only say normal RF-license and link to Wikipedia which explains RF for my people images I would also like to forbid defaming and pornographic uses. Maybe one of the native speaker which has no problems that other Symbiostockers uses it can post it here? Or is it too much too ask?

My licence has evolved somewhat since I posted the first draft for general use on MSG.

I am happy for anyone to base their EULA on mine but would prefer you put it into your own words and be careful to remove all mention of my me/my site.

The same applies to the Privacy Policy

I make no claims for the legality of either , I am not a lawyer.

Just let me know if you use it.

See this MSG thread for a basic start that was provided by an agency (same thread Christine posted in)

I took that and made modifications to get something I was happy with – the goal isn’t to file lawsuits so I wanted to get the legalese out of the text. I wanted it to be clear to the buyer what they purchased and what was OK/not OK.

You’re welcome to look those over and see if you can lift something from mine (but you’ll need to make your own Editorial Use Only graphic as mine has part of my logo in it).
