September 6, 2015 at 8:43 am #23878Symbiostock Express 2.0 is now active on the servers. It has been added as a secondary theme – 1.0.2 is still going to remain on the server until people get a chance to port it over on their own schedule.
This is also the recommended method for standalone users – simply install a duplicate version of Symbiostock Express on your site with a different folder name (symbiostock-express_1 for example), and only upgrade that version. Once that version is upgraded, you can, at your leisure, slowly port your site to the new version.
Symbiostock Express 2.0 has been retooled from the inside, and many variable names have been changed. Accordingly, you may actually need to set your entire site up. We realize this is a pain, but it only needs to be done this one time. This is necessary so that we can perform updates and bug fixes much faster in the future.
For child and custom CSS, some string replaces are as follows:
ssexpress_ is now virtue_
symbiostock_ is now kadence_
We do apologize about the inconvenience and will assist in whatever way we can. Symbiostock works reasonably fine with Express 1, although there may be certain small bugs that may pop up. To prevent accidental upgrades causing breakage of your entire site, we are not going to be releasing the Symbiostock Express 2.0 update via automatic updates yet. If you want to upgrade your copy and have purchased Express from us, send me a message and I will provide you a free copy for a fresh download.
In addition, I will release an update to Symbiostock Express 1 that will make it more compatible with Symbiostock 2.0 in the interim.
September 6, 2015 at 8:22 am #23877September 2, 2015 at 2:03 am #23861The best way to do this would be to create a child theme:
https://codex.wordpress.org/Child_Themes
And just add a new tab under the woocommerce template directory. You’ll need some familiarity with PHP to do this, but it’s not too difficult. The only caveat is when woocommerce and/or Symbiostock Express is updated, you may have to ensure that your changes are compatible with it.

The descriptions under the licenses are provided only as a base guideline – you can rename that license and call it whatever you want.
Generally, in the world of stock images, extended licenses provide additional rights that generally are not available with standard downloads.
Here is an example of the difference by a stock agency called Shutterstock:
August 29, 2015 at 1:29 am #23848I forgot – we have documentation on it right here:

August 29, 2015 at 12:53 am #23846Hi there –
1) Go to Symbiostock > Settings. Scroll down to ‘Agency Submissions’.
2) Add agencies. Add their FTP host, your username, your password. Then decide if you want to upload images and/or vectors to it. Click the appropriate checkbox.
3) Click ‘Submit automatically?’ checkbox.
4) Click Save Changes at the bottom.
That’s it!
Now when you upload an image, it will automatically be submitted to that or those agencies. Let me know if you have specific questions.

Symbiostock Express 2.0
Along with Symbiostock 2.0 will be a major update to Symbiostock Express. We are going to be standardizing our code in a way that permits updates and bug fixes to be a lot quicker, and accordingly a lot of CSS styles have been renamed slightly. For anyone who has created a child theme or added custom CSS, it will be reasonably simple to port your styles to the new names and we will provide a majority of the string replacements you will need to implement.
Symzio and reaching a Critical Mass
Aside from a massive amount of functionality upgrades and additions, the real gem is the Symzio widget. Our pressing goal is to make these sites permanently monetarily profitable, so this is the crucial point where we need to pool our combined footprint to promote one another. Once the widget is out, we should all aggressively promote both Symbiostock and Symzio, and implement the widget on our sites for maximum visitor recycling.
I will get more into it once it is out, and hopefully we will enter into some discussions about it, but in a nutshell:
It is all about conversions. Every visitor has a percentage chance of buying something. This is why, every single click they make, every single pixel they see, it all influences this percentage chance. The reason this percentage is all that matters is in the world of the internet, you’re never trying to reach that one person – you’re trying to reach that percentage based on a thousand people.
Therefore, if the percentage is 1%, then for every thousand people, 10 will buy something.
The two goals in any enterprise are this: Increase that percentage and increase the number of relevant visitors.
Symzio aggressively boosts these requirements.
1) By having a Symzio widget on every site, we are exponentially increasing the number of cumulative visitors the entire network sees. With each new Symbiostock artist, that number increases further. This is why more positive reviews, more members in the Artist Network, the more exposure the entire project gets, the more visitors each individual member gets access to.
2) By providing highly relevant results using advanced algorithms in a personalized and beautiful widget, we will be providing every visitor an increased number of relevant results for their search in an easy to digest manner. This means if they come to a site for apples, they will see different pictures of apples from different Symbiostock artists. This increased freedom of choice is bound to increase conversions and overall pageviews.
There will come a point where we will have enough cumulative exposure where a critical mass is created. This critical mass will tip the percentage to a perceptibly visible increase in conversions. Once we reach that point, there is no looking back.
Our goal should be to reach that critical mass as soon as possible.
…for once we do, we will truly and permanently have created an independent setting for all artists to monetize their media with absolute freedom and creative control.
