It’s taking forever to delete the 8,000 files in that directory (I switched to cPanel to see if it’d be faster than via Fetch/FTP)!

I also didn’t realize that when I turned off the network it would wipe my list of connections. Fortunately I had kept a directory with CSV files in it or I’d never remember who I had previously connected with!

Possibly I’m naive, but I thought the list would still be there when I re-enabled the network…

I’ll report back on search speed once the deleting is done

Yeah, very nice. That’s the way to keep a potential customer on your site.

Except I really don’t want to operate that way – and I am close to certain that in the past searches were quicker than they are now. I don’t have time today to look at this further, but I will try to shortly (over the weekend I hope).

The whole point of this setup was to network the sites, and I know there’s always the global search (which is used if nothing’s found on mine).

I’m sure we can get this fixed – it’s a shame that I have no clue why some sites are slower when networked and others not and also when this started…

I did a few more searches with an eye to whether there were any keywords that were faster – wondering if promoted keywords might have had anything to do with it, but no clues.

I’ve disabled the network and searches take 2-5 seconds max.

What is puzzling is that PictureBreeze and digital bristles (my site) have no network partners in common (you can click on the Network link to see a list from the pages linked below):

Sites in my network that seem responsive

    http://www.karensarragaphotography.com/author/kls-nospamgmail-com/
    http://stockabily.com/author/jeancliclac-dk/

Stockabily also links to Cathy’s Life which is no longer a Symbiostock site!

    Some that are also slow

I had hoped to find some sort of common denominator, but I’m drawing a blank. Possibly, if I can’t think of anything better, I’ll just zap network sites one at a time and see what happens?

It was slow for me too – but then I tried my own site and

    http://crackerclips.com/

and saw some pretty sluggish responses from all of them. The global search was near instant

    Karren’s site was quick

I’m on Bluehost – could it be a server slowdown issue?

I did a Google search for Gneissic rock formations and your page is pretty close to the beginning of the image search page. Is it possible this is a hot topic (for some reason – I have no clue about rocks!) and it’s just coming from searches? It doesn’t look like the sort of image to have been grabbed by a wallpaper site

I received the refund – thanks – but I still don’t have the image in the download area – it’s in the cart still.

Have a look at some of the other threads on this to check and see that you either have no IPN or the correct one filled in (and check the PayPal end of that too)

I had problems the first time through creating an account, but I’m not sure why. I tried a second time and things worked fine.

I was able to make a purchase via PayPal (just refund the money when you get a minute) and the file hasn’t yet moved into the download area. Sometimes it’s slow, so I’ll just wait a bit and try again in a few

We’ll have to remember this – I’m sure it will happen again at some point 🙂 Glad you’ve sorted it out and >> and << seem like a very customer friendly choice.

Does anyone know where things are with PicturEngine? I haven’t seen any updates (they don’t seem to send out email to those signed up) but I assume they’re not live as there’s been no 30 day notice that they’ll need money to continue advertising only at the site

It means changing a little bit of code, but here’s how

I have only one collection (made for a promo) so I hadn’t tried this, but just did and got the same error you reported.

If you look at Leo’s site, he has a category called collections on his Collections menu

    http://www.clipartillustration.com/image-type/illustration-stock-image-collections/

So possibly this is a known bug?

What do you mean about it not working as a drop down? You can list individual images in menus, and collections show up in that if you need to list some specific collection in a menu

[25-Mar-2014 09:05:44 UTC] PHP Fatal error: Uncaught exception 'Exception' with message 'String could not be parsed as XML' in /home7/hundgall/public_html/wp-content/themes/symbiostock/inc/classes/network-manager/interpreter.php:54

I did a search on that error and there are a number of sites suggesting that this can be produced when handling accented characters improperly

    http://stackoverflow.com/questions/8407948/php-parsing-xml-with-accents

I don’t know much about the area, and it may be a simple fix to make. As far as a workaround, I think that would be avoiding accented characters (and I realize that’s not a straightforward option!)

Even though that was written a little while back, as far as I know the code in the theme still hasn’t been fixed, so you’ll need to be willing to make changes to correct some of the errors the rich snippets testing tool will complain about.

It’s not hard, but just be aware you need to keep a copy of the original files as well as your edited files as future theme updates will replace those files and you’ll need to merge your changes into the updated theme files (until the bugs get fixed anyway)
