All I did was download the latest version
    Zip it
uploaded it via the Install Themes in my WP-Admin area
    Activated it
    And every thing went south

I tried deleting it from my Bluehost cpanel which got be back into my dashboard
Uploaded the theme into my site via file manager on Bluehost same results.

And I cannot make any version work.

    I’ve done it another time…
For good measure I’ve done it several more times

I always get an error no matter which version I attempt to install.

Delete the symbiostock folder from the themes and then resinstall the latest version.

You can back it up first if you want, its only around 4mb.

    Apparently I don’t know what I’m doing.
All I did was try to up load the old theme and install it.

Bet if I try to do it again I break it.

But I need to roll back for now.

    Sorry Broke it again.

Please put me back to 2.6.5

I will have to figure out how to set up a test site for the new version because I don’t think out of the box I’m gonna like it.

    Thanks

    No it wasn’t me.
And I’m not sure about the home page. I’ll need to play with it.

Thanks for getting me back up. How did that happen – I don’t fool around with code.

Steve, you can get around that by setting up a test site – if your host permits it set up a sub-domain and load wordpress and symbiostock onto that, then if you wish to make any changes you can try them out/learn how everything works before you do it for real = just don’t link it to the network unless it is other test sites.

If you have not made (m)any modifications then there is no reason why your site should be out of action at all

I actually knew you were going to say this and my initial response addressed it but I left it out –

    Clueless

    I have Bluehost – I know it’s possible
I clicked the Add Subdomain button – Added one – But really don’t know what to do from there
All it seemed to do was add a folder in my file manager in a place I didn’t expect it. So, hesitant to do anything more there.

Actually I won’t go any further down that rabbit hole.

Like I said my site works – But I’m afraid not upgrading to the latest version will leave me out in the cold at some point.
Will 2.6.5 become obsolete or stop working because of other things like changes to WordPress, PHP or whatever….
Leo won’t be updating all versions.

I know it’s inevitable I will have to upgrade – just not looking forward to it – may not look like it but I have quite a bit of time into this
and need more reassurance and proof I’m not going to screw everything up by upgrading.

What about those of us just using the regular Child Theme?

It depends what you have done to it and if you have made lots of modifications
If it does not do what you expected then make a copy and save
Delete contents of original within the theme
Add things backp one at a time to see what works and what does not

First I would leave child theme turned off until you see what is available within 2.7.* as many things can be edited within it

I haven’t done anything, if what you mean is messed with CSS.
I’ve used some widgets and plugins to get where I’m at. Pretty plain and basic – yet it works.

Not actually looking forward to learning 2.7.* and not having my site functional for a few days while I sort it out.
