Just had my fourth sale…an extended license, which I’m not even set up for yet. Had to send an invoice via PayPal and email the file. Pretty cool. 😀

I use a Mac but bought an inexpensive wireless mouse that has a right click button. You might also be able to just drag the image from your browser to your desktop.

Great article! Thanks for sharing, Martha. I own rescued parrots, so I know birds can starve quickly. And I knew deer and rabbits hide theirbabies in the grass while continuing to care for them (a deer attacked my dogs this year and gave them some nasty bruises), but I had no idea baby birds lived on the ground for a time before being able to fly.

I am testing this in my site.
It works like featured images. Free image should be added to category named “Symbiostock Free Images”, and widget “Free Images” can be added to home page, like other widgets.
    Example:

    Image:
    http://ajotte.com/image/orange-lime-and-lemon/
Registered users see button “Get File”:

Everyone wanting to get image, has to register first.

Is this function worth adding to theme?

It could be used also in symbiostock.info, as collection from all sites, named “free download area” or sth 🙂

I like this idea. I give away a jpg each month to attract buyers, and I’d love a way to force a registration to build my mailing list.

I know. The other people who worked on logos and entered the contest won’t be paid.

I like the idea of a new logo as well, since the current one does unfortunately have bad connotations for many Europeans and many potential buyers in the New York area (and other places as well).

I also like the idea of asking people here to contribute ideas. I personally don’t like those crowdsourced contests, because you’re asking the majority of people to work for free (yes, we’d also be working for free, but in our case it’s a labor of love).

    Anyhoo, just one opinion.

It depends. With vectors they don’t require a release if your person doesn’t look like a real person, but they want one if they think it does. (They want releases for realistic-looking houses as well). Shutterstock recently asked for a model release for one of my illos, even tho that character (who doesn’t look like a real person) has been in my port for years.

With jpgs, they want to be sure you haven’t just photographed or scanned someone else’s work, so they ask for a release. Or they ask for a jpg of the original sketch so they know you actually drew it. iStock used to be much more strict about, that but everyone’s become pretty lenient lately.

I started using sweet captcha, and that seems to work. http://www.sweetcaptcha.com
