Copied from MSG:
Hello everyone. Here’s a VERY IMPORTANT initial update on the base theme.
First, a WARNING: Do not install this unless you are ready for the quirks of a major overhaul, and a few adjustments on your end.
See this example on my website: http://www.clipartillustration.com/
Download: https://github.com/orangeman555/symbiostock/blob/metamorphosis/symbiostock.zip?raw=true
What’s going on here is we are finalizing Symbiostock for the long haul. Simplicity, minimal, professional. Out of the box.
We’ve put in the modern bootstrap 3, and along with many other perks the whole theme is 100% responsive, no questions asked.
The objective here is that the theme should be a simple blank slate, with plenty of flexibilty for modification stylewise. On the other hand, with no modifications, it should come off as a no-nonsense simple image store.
September 10, 2013 at 3:25 am #1924It might be good. AJT who quietly monitors everything was telling me many people are already using it. But yes, whoever’s brave enough to push the big red button and duck for cover is encouraged to do so.
I’ll have the newer version available for testing soon.
September 10, 2013 at 1:34 am #1935Thats awesome news! Which one sold? Was it food?
September 10, 2013 at 1:33 am #1922I totally get your caution, don’t worry. You’ve just set everything up so its “just right” and the last thing you want is to change something and see the dreaded WSOD — brother of the BSOD.

5.3 and above offer more functionality. I was hoping to utilize some of 5.3 functions in the new “Metamorphosis” version, which is cleaner and more device/mobile compatible.
There is no rush. I think your plan to leave things as is for now is perfectly fine. You’ll get a warning when its required 😀

Global Symbiostock Search at symbiostock.info can be used as a source of data. Developers can use it, for example, in smartphone application. Search results are returned as XML files, compatible with data format used by all Symbiostock sites for network communication (and that’s why every Symbiostock site can display network results from symbiostock.info).
More info here:
I think we can probably use it here on Symbiostock.org with a credit to the source as well. Just one more way to get found for everyone.
September 9, 2013 at 11:01 pm #2261Are you using PHP’s XML class or doing this hand-coded?
Besides the header (before echoing the output) you can also format it…
//make the output pretty
$xml->formatOutput = true;
return $xml->saveXML();
So not only do you view it as its meant to without the browser trying to recognize it as HTML, but its also formatted pretty.
Not crucial…just one of those cutsie extras.
September 9, 2013 at 10:58 pm #2260Thats really great! You should post that on MSG – I remember there was someone offering to make some apps and doing a pole on it.
Also thanks for the sitelist:
http://symbiostock.info/sitelist.php
Just an FYI you can modify the headers:
header( "Content-Type: text/plain" );
So it displays in browsers nicely. But I’ll be fetching that through curl so its not crucial.
September 9, 2013 at 10:49 pm #1808LOL No problem! And I will certainly try to remember the penguins.
September 9, 2013 at 10:48 pm #1872This is one of those issues not likely to go away – I have no control over it.

Its just an annoyance.
September 9, 2013 at 8:00 pm #1403@symbiostock … for symbiostock 😀
September 9, 2013 at 7:50 pm #1814Want to move it up to 40 instead of 20??? Or maybe 30?
September 9, 2013 at 7:49 pm #1481Just an FYI I opened up a development forum (Like we had on MSG) and moved this topic over there.
September 9, 2013 at 7:45 pm #1393My first order of business here is just to get a cascading list of replies like MSG has. In the meantime, here is what I’m using:
September 9, 2013 at 7:44 pm #1798I’m watching this thanks for posting. Make sure these things are on my b—-list http://www.symbiostock.org/topic/13/remaining-symbiostock-cleanup-suggestions/
September 9, 2013 at 7:43 pm #1806My problem is that if I was a penguin I would not want to be excluded from the party. I’m kinda stuck on that.
