http://nail-art-at.kerioak.com - Art and Nail ArtOctober 18, 2013 at 12:06 pm #5248Jo, when you were in menus did you tick any of the boxes to say where they appear . The ones that show below the menu items and above Save? I created a new Above Header menu item and used that.
I found that helped – then going back to appearance, customise (it is s and not z :D) Navigation, and making sure they are still correct in Navigation.
I did this in my live and testing sites and Mark’s site yesterday – his only took me a couple of minutes, my first one took much longer to work out how to get rid of that long list of pages.

http://nail-art-at.kerioak.com - Art and Nail ArtOctober 18, 2013 at 11:54 am #5335Thanks for your comments –
Colours: I did start off with a deep purple and might revert back to it, still trying to standardise everything.
Photos in logo – I have wondered about that but as a photographer, thought it might be better to incorporate them as they give more of an idea what the site is about? I have always used that particular font for my Kerioak since I first started doing pedigrees (Kerioak is my kennel name) and am reluctant to give it up. I have never had to make logos so they are somewhat of a new thing.
I spent ages working out how to get the transparent background to the header at the top – I know it over lays other things including the pictures if someone was thinking about copying them:)
Not many visitors (apart from via the forum) actually visit the front page, most go to an image, then another image and maybe the licence
I don’t mind a little girly – just did not want to go over the top with it 😀
Edit: looking at someone else’s site just now reminded me why I wanted the static header transparent. They sometimes look as if they are not part of the page, more part of the browser programme which means you (I do anyway) block them out and just look at the active parts of the page.

http://nail-art-at.kerioak.com - Art and Nail ArtOctober 18, 2013 at 10:23 am #4992I did, I started with a completely clean child theme, I have been gradually building it in my test site over the last week or so and transferred it to my live site and again edited it a bit at a time. I am doing something wrong though as it does not remove the framework …… yet

http://nail-art-at.kerioak.com - Art and Nail ArtOctober 18, 2013 at 10:14 am #4989See my picture above – I did a search for Cat
Both Stockabily and Picture5479 bought up results totally unrelated to cats.
I have spoken to Mark and he has resaved his settings to ensure that they are set to “word borders” and while a direct search on his site no longer brings up people instead of cats, a search on my site does.http://kerioakimaging.com - trying to reopen

At least you now have one less site to catch up on as I think mine is more or less okay now – just got to work out this wordpress/php/disappearing category/category menu limitation bug (I think that is what it is)
Hope your computer comes back full of beans and raring to go – even if you are exhausted – take care.

How do you remove the grey gradients on the sliders – I get them in my latest images sliders as well and the grey goes over the top of the picture making them look very dull. Why do some have them and some not?http://kerioakimaging.com - trying to reopen
