APPEARANCE
MenusThis is where you add/remove items to/from your navigation bars.
When you look at your page one of the first things you will probably want to do is remove the long list of links from the header/Navigation Bar
To Remove Links From HeadersGo to:
Appearance,
Menu
and create a new menu and, for instance call it Cart, and save. Then, if there is a box near the middle bottom of the page that says Cart tick this and Save (I cannot remember the exact process but this should help get rid of the list of links)Contact Form
It is strongly recommended (and a legal requirement in some countries that you have contact details and a land address) to have a method by which clients can contact you and a contact form is the easiest.
(Contact form recommendations include Contact Form 7 or Contact Form with Captcha)In your Pages section Symbiostock automatically creates some pages, including Contact, you can add additional text if you wish.
Now to make use of that Contact Form
Go to Appearance, Menus
Click on the little plus sign and in the menu name box add “ above header “ (or add Contact form to Cart Menu) – without the quote marks and save menu.
On the left hand side of the page select Above Header in the theme locations above header box and save. Keep saving so you do not forget and lose your work.Repeat this with header as you will also need a header soon.
Now select your “above header” tab . On the left hand side of the page there will be a section called “Pages”, if it is not showing then go to the top right of the page just under where it says Howdy, select “screen options” and the drop down will give you a list of options you can show on the page. Once you have pages showing then click in the box next to “Contact“ and click the add to menu box below it. This will now show up in your header so SAVE.
Image Category Menu in Header/Navigation Bar
The time will come when you wish to add categories to your header menu. Use the same method but instead of adding from “pages” add them from “image categories”. If you wish to have child categories such as Animal – dog then just pull the Dog tab slightly to the right so it indents under Animal. You can change the order of these by dragging them up and down as you wish.
You can also add pages to the Header menu.

APPEARANCE
ThemesOne major benefit of WordPress and thus Symbiostock is the ability to edit the theme to your own preferences. With the addition of Dragonfly and the Home Page Generator you can do pretty much what you wish. I STRONGLY recommend that you install a child theme so that any edits you make are not overwritten if Symbiostock Parent theme is updated.
Option 1. Themes – Symbiostock – Home Page – Symbiostock Home Page Generator
If you are not a web page designer and want a quick and easy Home Page this is the place for you – it explains exactly what to do and where to do it and you will soon have an awesome Static landing page for your site.
Option 2. Dragonfly – a child theme with various options.
If you go to:
Appearance
Editor
it will open up a page with coding on it, all you need to do is change one wordYour choices are:
Amelia
Cerulean
Cosmo
Cyborg
Flatly
Journal
Readable
Simplex
Slate
Spacelab
UnitedEXAMPLE EDIT:
@import url(“bootstrap-themes//bootstrap.min.css”);*/
/* Per above comments, replace “United” with your above sub-theme choice */
@import url(“bootstrap-themes/United/bootstrap.min.css”);*/In this above line choose one of the options above and replace the word United with your choice, then scroll to the bottom of the page and SAVE
Option 3 – Blank Child Theme
In this option you use the Sybiostock Child Theme which has no css in it and then add it to suit your tastes.~~~
APPEARANCE
CustomiseThis area will allow you to personalise your site, the positions of your navigation bars, background colour or image, header image, position of logo, colours of text etc. Just play with this until you are happy with it and then use the Child Theme(s) to make any further tweaks you require

Honourable mentions to Steve, Cascoly and Tim for their introduction of new elements into the picture but in this instance I judge
Mark – third place
Russell – second place with his black and white
……but first place goes to
Jo Ann
with her gentle edit which I feel really draws the eye to the mountains
I look forward to seeing what you can produce for us to manipulate now Jo Ann

http://nail-art-at.kerioak.com - Art and Nail ArtNovember 15, 2013 at 3:42 pm #7072I think people are using Alexa for rank (although this just depends how many people have it on their toolbar)
and Google Webmaster Tools to see how things are being indexed (where you submit the sitemaps to)
