Hi All, I was away from computer for 3 weeks. I saw that a new theme was released by Leo. Is it safe to upgrade to the latest theme? Can you confirm me the steps – activate another theme, delete the current symbio theme, upload the latest theme? I also see that there is a mention of multiple Child Themes. Will I need to download these separately?

Can you please point me to some websites that are running on 2.9?

    Happy Diwali to all 🙂

You don’t say what version you’re on now. Easy or hard depends a bit on that and how much customization you’ve done.

My site was at 2.6.5 and using CleanTheme 2.0 and the upgrade was quite a struggle (largely because I decided that if CleanTheme wasn’t going to be updated any more – Leo will give any purchasers a version that’s been fixed to work with 2.9.x but he’s not maintaining it)

My site is now running with 2.9.4 and Dragonfly (new child theme) with lots of modifications. You can see from Cascoly’s list which version sites are running

I am also running 2.9.4 – with my own child theme.

When you install 2.9.4 delete or disable current version of symbiostock and deactivate the symbiostock email and notification plug in (I am sure I saw this somewhere).

Child themes are called Dragonfly and they give you some colour and I think, layout options.

Where do I get the dragonfly from?

You should have a link up top of your Wp admin page, with a yellow background, where the required plugins are listed and you can go ahead and install them with just a click

The one I have installed (I just clicked the link the theme install provided) is wp-category-meta

I did a test registration. Test User also gets the password sent from the website to the user. I believe I need to disable the Email Notification Plugin but then the user will not get any email. I believe a new user should always get password emailed or atleast a welcome email.

Why do you believe you need to disable the e-mail plugin?

The WP Metadata is the one listed at the top of the page, it is something to do with sharing keyword search data so you can see via Cascoly’s site what keywords were searched – or something like that I think

The plugin sends out an email with password when a new user does the registration. In 2.9.4 the user has to set their new password at the time of registration so there is no need for the password to be sent out in the email. The password sent in the email is different from that is set by the user at the time of the registration. It will confusion

But the e-mail I got when I tested things after the upgrade e-mailed me the password I chose. Is it possible that when you upgraded you didn’t follow the steps in the order indicated here?

Sounds to me as if you have the old e-mailer plugin still.
