Hi everyone, I’m getting these permission warnings in WP’s debug log. The instance is on Bitnami and hosted on AWS Lightsail. It’s been confirmed they’re both properly configured so I was advised to reach out to Symbiostock.

    Here’s the warning:

PHP Warning: chmod(): Operation not permitted in /opt/bitnami/
    apps/wordpress/htdocs/wp-content/plugins/symbiostock-pro/symbiostock-init.php on line 22

This is the current permission of that particular file:
    -rw-rw-r----- 1 bitnami daemon 29778 Apr 24 13:26 symbiostock-init.php

It appears that changing permissions for that particular file doesn’t solve the issue. It looks like the plugin uses different folders. Is it too much to ask which folders they are? Then I can update the permissions for the necessary folders.

Also, if anyone has solved this issue, please let me know what worked for you.

Hi there – unless this is causing an issue in your Symbiostock operation, I would not worry about it. Are you noticing any issues due to this?

Hi Robin, thanks for your response!

We’re hitting errors when trying to process video previews. Whether it’s due directly to this, I’m not sure.

Hi Christine – if you ever see errors like this, you can easily open that file in a text editor such as Notepad++ and go to that line to see what it’s trying to do. I don’t recommend you make any changes yourself unless you are very familiar with PHP.

This line relates to the program used to read and write metadata to images and shouldn’t have anything to do with video processing. Are you using Symbiostock Video?

Hi Robin, thanks for the clarifications! I was able resolve the permissions issue. But not the video issue. Symbiostock Video is installed and I ran the Symbiostock Video Diagnostic tool with success. It was able to render the test video.

However, we’re still getting the same error:
Error(s): Failed to create video preview for product ID: 68 | Dismiss error(s).

The video is in the correct location at:
    /opt/bitnami/apps/wordpress/htdocs/wp-content/uploads/ss_media

Here’s the output code that diagnostic generated:

    Hi Christine,

Can you please try testing a very small video to see if it works? If it does, then it is very likely an issue with the resources on your server which are preventing larger videos from processing. The diagnostic tool for example has a video file within it – you can unzip this and upload it as a new product to see if it works.

Thanks for suggestion! So I tested with two videos:
    – 1.5mb mp4 test video
    – test.mp4 from the diagnostic tool (~5mb).

Also for more info on the site:
    – It’s hosted on AWS Lightsail
    – PHP version is 7.3.14 (Supports 64bit values)
(please let me know if any other server info would help)

I uploaded via FTP to this folder:
    /opt/bitnami/apps/wordpress/htdocs/wp-content/uploads/ss_media/new/

Than I ran the Processor script which moved the videos out of the new folder and added it to the ss_media folder.
    Results of processor

However, the video previews are still not working on the product page. The thumbnail is just a photo of the placeholder image.

Thank you for all that. Can you please PM me your login information and url? I will take a look. We have tested video with aws and it works so it should work for you.

Also are you running off plesk in aws?

Thanks, Robin. I sent you a PM with the info.

As for plesk, I ran plesk version and I’m not seeing that it’s installed on the instance.

What I mean is, did you choose plesk when you created your lightsail instance or WordPress?

Issue was resolved by ensuring the processor is running once a minute. It does not process all previews and thumbnails in one pass.
