I am just starting with Symbiostock and I need some help. I know how to create categories and add photos to categories, but I don’t know how to display them on my website. This is my website: http://naturestockphotos.net/
Under “Browse Categories” I want my categories to show instead of the demo ones, complete with my thumbnails. How do I do that?
I would also want to add “featured images”.August 9, 2016 at 12:15 am #27565
WooCommerce -> Settings -> Products -> Shop Page
That’s where you set what’s supposed to be displayed on your shop page. Choose “Image Categories” and that should solve the problem, if I understood it correctly.August 9, 2016 at 12:39 am #27567
Thank you Andre, this is of use too as I can now display my categories in my shop page, not the products and this is great. But I also want to change the categories that appear on my front page. If you take a look now, under “Browse Categories” you will see the demo page categories: animals, editorial, food, illustrations and abstract, all with a photo of a forest on which it says “sample image”. These are the sample categories. I want to change this and have my categories show up there instead.
I also uploaded a screenshot to illustrate what I’m trying to change, and add my categories instead:August 9, 2016 at 1:23 am #27574
That’s theme related. Looks like you’re using Symbiostock Express which I don’t. But I’m sure someone else can advise.August 9, 2016 at 1:27 am #27575
From your WordPress Dashboard, go to Symbiostock Express, go to Home layout. That is where you can change that title.

Thanks for the suggestions, using the details given and a bit of searching by you guys I managed to find what I was looking, so thank you!
I’m going to write the exact steps in case someone else needs this:
Dashboard -> Symbiostock Express-> Home Custom Carousel Settings -> Click on the slide that you want to modify, upload or choose the photo that you want as the category image, and then in the “Slide Link” tab paste the gallery link.
Now I just want to know how to add photos in the “Featured Images”, and maybe a drop down menu with the categories.August 9, 2016 at 5:03 am #27578
Almost the same instructions –
WordPress Dashboard -> Symbiostock Express -> Home Layout, then choose your settings in the Featured Carousel.
Now go back to your Symbiostock Media. You will see a star on each image listing. Click on the star of those images that you want to display in your Featured Product Carousel.
If you click on the image in the carousel, it will take you to the product page.

Thanks George, it worked. Now I managed to do everything that I wanted with the theme, except for a drop-down menu that displays the categories. Anyone knows how to do that?August 12, 2016 at 12:08 am #27621
Look at my site: http://georgesheldon.com/
Check out my menu system. If you want your menu to have categories like mine, that can easily be done. If that’s want you want, I can post the directions here. Let me know.

Yes, this is what I’m looking for. Also, how did you added the “licensing” page? I want to do that as well, did you write or modify the text, or is it the Symbiostock standard?
Another odd thing, I am trying to change prices under “Licenses” but the prices are not updating on my site. I left the licenses that were already there, I just changed the price. If someone has a quick easy fix I won’t open a new topic about it, that’s why I thought about posting it here also.August 12, 2016 at 12:42 am #27623
Here is how to add categories in your menu:
1. Set up a Category for your Symbiostock Category (WordPress Dashboard -> Symbiostock -> Categories
2. Add the category to one (or many) of your images.
3. Go to Menus (WordPress Dashboard -> Appearance -> Menus
4. Check the menu name – this is the menu where you will be adding the category
5. Click on Custom Links (left side)
6. Type your URL in the box. Here is what mine looks like for an Amish category:
Yours should be: http://YOURDOMAIN/product-category/NAME OF YOUR CATEGORY/
Type in the name of your category as you’d want it to appear in your menu. It does not need to be the same name as your actual category.
Click on the Add to Menu button.
You now have your category in your menu. Be sure to save your menu before leaving the page.
Hope this helps – let us know if you have other questions.
P.S. – Did you click on the update prices check box? (If you need help, please start a new topic, just so we can help to keep this forum organized. We’ll be glad to help you!)
