The main theme which is free gets regular updates and support, a NEW free theme has been created, while the paid Clean Theme does not get updates nor support for fresh functions that the above mentioned themes have….
I would finally like to have the licence choice option and the issue with cart resolved. Not having these and more awaited features (like more rows in “featured images” that Leo promised two weeks ago to be done asap) hinders from advertising and showing the site to a wider public.
That being said I appreciate Leo’s and his colleagues hard work and giving away most of the stuff for free, but hey, I did pay for the Premium Upgrade and Clean Theme. 100$ is not a fortune but it’s not that low to be disregarded.

    cheers,
    Michal

Clean Theme is from Amanda, Leo didnt create that plugin. Though I think he is working with Amanda to get a working Clean Theme. I believe its Clean Theme 2.0. BUT…. I FULLY agree with you about having paid for the software and expecting it to be supported. Lightroom 5 cost 130 dollar, I have paid 145 dollar in total for Symbiostock and official Symbiostock plugins. Just a comparison.

leo [at] symbiostock.com to get the version which works on the latest update, assuming you’ve purchased the original.

I’d respond to your other judgements, but I suspect it would not do much good.

Like many Symbiostockers he sees a few things from the distance, but he doesn’t know the depth of things. But since he was able to give me a reminder regarding Featured images, I’ll just remove the limit.

I could explain in depth to give some reason, but I’ve learned a lot in the last (almost) year, so I’ll refrain.

I don’t want to be the one that spreads negativity, no! I really believe in the project. I just would like to have things clear – do I buy fully supported stuff and I am treated as client in a good meaning of this word OR whether I donate the developer for good work he’s already done.

In a nutshell, I do 95% of the theme work and keep up with lots of requests. Many things fall by the wayside. But they will get caught up.

For instance there are quite a few emails I get requesting personal help – nothing that shows on the forums. In the early days the majority of my time went into development. Now develpment happens when/if everyone else has been taken care of. Thats the main reason things are slow.

Also upgrades on the free version are technically upgrades on the paid version, since the two work together. Although it might sound strange, I do not see the paid version any different than the free version, since they both operate together. The license thing will be done soon, but I have to approach that distractionless since there is plenty that can go wrong with the license system. That fix is going to be among the last (and believe me, I’m very close to being finished here).

As help requests and new people keep growing, you can see why my contributions to individual requests slow down. More people, less me 😀

    I will vouch for that!

Leo is remarkably responsive to people (like me) who have worked hard to bulid their sites but need a bit of extra help on occasion. And from what I’ve seen, he does it without expectation of additional compensation.

That said, I do believe that those of us who have received extra help from Leo ought to make an extra contribution to support the effort. I paid for Clean Theme 2 and the Premium SYS and the SYS sitemap and still felt motivated to donate an additional amount as a modest way of thanking Leo for everything he’s done for me and others.

What I’ve gotten out of this is worth every dollar I’ve paid. Thank you, Leo.

We have all gained more out of this, than what we have paid. If we paid for a web designer to do what has been done, it would have been a lot of money. I also donated to symbiostock development and also bought all of Leo’s plugins.

Thank you Leo for your positive response.
Your powers deserve to be aimed at development and you should have people responsible for individual support (big question WHO and in what character..). Now you are more or less alone with this huge amount of requests and work. Might be a bit overwhelming..
Nonetheless I hope you won’t lose spirits!

Thanks guys! For the record I don’t actually want donations. Of course I appreciate them very much! But I don’t ask for money from people in a dying business, except for what has been minimally necessary to keep this project alive. The “premium” plugin keeps the whole thing alive. Also a fun community does, with all of their help they give to eachother.

Mostly I’m just tired. My wife is extremely supportive, but even she’s asking me to let this thing ride for a while. It tends to suck out my spirit lately. I think its needed for everyone to tell you the truth. Symbiostock is too much about development. The energy should soon go into just having fun.

I also think Microstock is going downhill, and as more “tremors” continue to break it down, market goes elsewhere. From the beginning I was hoping Symbiostock sites would be that main “elsewhere”.

Anyway, thanks for your patience! And I always appreciate the extra slack to catch up.

If it helps, feedback from my art director and designer friends has been very positive, and my Facebook campaign is getting lots of likes. Even my fine artist friends have been very enthusiastic. I think advertising and graphic design people really like the idea of being able to buy directly from/support the artist or photographer and being able to find a lot of us in one “place.” I plan to promote Symbiostock as an idea on my little Facebook page with this ratio: For every 3 posts about my own site, one about Symbiostock. I don’t think tons of people want to buy only my illustrations, but if each of us is connected to hundreds of others, that’s a really attractive and powerful thing for designers and ad agencies.

Leo, I’ll just chime in and say you’ve done a tremendous job. I need to get a couple things figured out and then I’m going to kick some bucks into a Google campaign and see if I can get something to shake out. 😉

Martha, my comment was directed at the OP to explain a few things. Leo has helped me out too, and I have donated to the project as well. My conscience is clear, if anyone here doubts my intentions I would be very disappointed.
