I solved it! The solution is to:
1) create a new category in Symbiostock->Categories
2) Go to Appearance->Customize->Menus->Navigation and add the categories into the menu hierarchy from there.
What a relief! Thanks for your help, George —

https://www.clipartman.comApril 17, 2016 at 2:31 am #26375Hey George, thank very much for your help – incidentally, this isn’t on my old site, this is a new one I’m building, Clipartman.com.
I tried what you suggested and was able to create a category that appears in my Image Categories dropdown menu. But the problem I’m still having is that when I go to my test product’s page to indicate which categories it should appear under, this new category doesn’t show in the Product Category box.
I see you can define a category as “Product” is under Symbistock->Categories. So I duplicated the name (“Fireman”, using your example) and defined it there as a Product Category. But it’s still not showing up when I edit the product’s specs under Symbiostock->Media in the Product Categories box on the right of the page.
Furthermore, I can evidently create new Product Categories in the box, but they still don’t show up under my Image Categories dropdown in Nav, nor do they appear under View All in the Categories box at left under Appearance->Menus, so I can’t add them manually to my Menu Structure.
There seem to be at least 3 different places where you can create new categories, 2 of which let you define them specifically as “Product” categories, but I’m unable to get more of these into my dropdown menu.
There must be a “proper” way to do this very basic and frequently-required function, specifically for Symbio products that you want to appear in Category menus in the Nav. I’m obviously doing it wrong, can you please tell me the correct procedure for this?
Thanks very much for your help!

https://www.clipartman.comApril 16, 2016 at 9:41 am #26366Looks like I figured out the Nav menu issue – However I still have a problem. When I assign categories to my uploaded image’s Symbio page in that widget on the right, it’s still not showing up after I refresh the page in my browser and pull down to the appropriate menu – what am I doing wrong? Is there more to this procedure of assigning categories to a product?
thanks

https://www.clipartman.comDecember 21, 2015 at 4:28 am #24958Hey Robin – still haven’t had any time to update the site but I have a question for the legacy Symbio theme I’m still using in the meantime. Is there any way to set up a discount code to offer customers?? This is such a basic feature that it must be available, but I don’t see where I would do this – please clue me in.
Thank You! Looking forward to my complete shop overhaul in the coming months!

https://www.clipartman.comNovember 12, 2015 at 10:50 am #24534Hey Robin – sorry, my bad on the email. I had an old one in my profile, I just changed it.
I use BlueHost, so Imagick shouldn’t be an issue, correct? I will check out those links and try to do it myself – I’ll get back to you after I make my attempt, thanks!

https://www.clipartman.comNovember 11, 2015 at 1:57 pm #24523Hey Robin, thanks so much for the reply and for having at look at my site – incidentally, I checked the box to be notified of replies via email but I did not get an email, nor is one sitting in my spam folder; any ideas about this? I just checked back in now anyway, and saw that you had replied the same day.
Wow, a lot going on! Absolutely I want to upgrade and take advantage of these new features and the new design flexibility as well as Symzio. How do I do this?
On the tech side, I’ve designed my own websites before and never had a problem with it although I had lots of problems with this one, as it’s a WordPress theme and I’m still unfamiliar with WP and had lots of trouble getting it together. Eventually I had Leo put it together for me and I made some edits but I’m still uncomfortable with a lot of the functionality. So the new iteration can be a WooCommerce theme for the entire shop, which is hopefully a bit more intuitive to use?
Please send me all the appropriate links and dumbed-down info as though I were a newbie; I’d love to be able to re-work this whole thing so things work like they’re supposed to and I can have more control over SEO, the look and user experience. Thanks very much for your help! – KK

https://www.clipartman.comFebruary 25, 2015 at 5:31 pm #11585Yes, I see – it looks like that will work! I will try this when I can – for some reason I’m having trouble logging in at the moment.
I’ll post an update when it’s ready –

https://www.clipartman.comFebruary 24, 2015 at 3:08 pm #11583OK thanks Leo – question then; is there a way to customize the message at the checkout stage somehow to make it very clear to people, in very large obvious type that they will definitely see, that they can use a credit card WITHOUT a paypal account, and that it’s VERY secure?
Is there a field in the SS dashboard or elsewhere that I can edit myself to display this, right at the point of purchase?

https://www.clipartman.comDecember 7, 2014 at 8:21 pm #11481It worked! What was missing was that I didn’t know to click the “Network Bonus Info” link to the right of the Author Settings category and just below the Author Settings link. When I did that, it gave me all the whole “Symbiostock Profile and Extended Network Info” extended page that you’ve been seeing. I changed the Contact Page info to my mailto: link and it works.
On the password issue, I just registered a new test account and it doesn’t ask for the user to enter a password, it just says a password will be sent to you, which worked. This is an improvement, thanks – now there’s no confusion as to which password to use.
Thanks very much for your help and patience Leo, you’re the Man!

https://www.clipartman.comDecember 7, 2014 at 5:49 pm #11479I see, this is where we’re having a miscommunication – see attached screen grab; this is what I’m seeing under Your Profile, and it didn’t change when I selected Leo in Users and changed your role to Author. Note the differences – we’re on the same page, but mine just says “Profile” and yours says “Symbiostock Profile and Extended Network Info”. I thought I had the most recent version of the theme – so why am I seeing something different than you are? Please email me the login credentials you’re using so I can login as you and see what you’re seeing. I tried logging in as “leo” with the password I gave you but but it didn’t work. – thanks!

https://www.clipartman.comDecember 6, 2014 at 3:43 pm #11470I tried both of this options and the profile page appears the same – no field for Contact Page. Are you seeing the same thing I’m seeing when you login?

https://www.clipartman.comDecember 6, 2014 at 4:05 am #11476Leo, I just checked and whatever updates you’ve made have had no effect – there’s no change from before, for either issue:
1) The link you just sent is the same link I checked before, it still has no field for Contact Page. There’s a Contact Info section, but nothing for Contact Page. Are you saying you’ve tweaked it and now you see “Contact Page” at this link?
2) I registered a new account and the same problem is still happening – the asterisk message that a new password will be emailed, and once I registered an email was sent with a auto-generated password.
What updates did you make? Everything is still the same as it was. Did you try to register a new account? You’ll see what I mean.

https://www.clipartman.comDecember 6, 2014 at 2:31 am #11473Yes I did but now I can’t remember what I did – I edited some code in the control panel but don’t remember exactly what, it was very confusing to me at the time. But I definitely made a few changes. Can you still make the edits?

https://www.clipartman.comDecember 6, 2014 at 2:06 am #11478Hey Leo – I tried your Users->Your Profile->Contact Page advice, but there’s no “Contact Page” field on my profile page. Is this field accessible somewhere else on the control panel? Do you have an alternative method? I prefer email to the Contact Form.
Regarding #2), yes please check it out and try to register a new account and you’ll see what I mean, because it’s not working properly. There is a note with an asterisk in the registration field that a new password will be sent, and then you’ll get an email with the new auto-generated password. I’d like to eliminate the note and the new password, and let the password the customer chooses in the first place remain the only password. Thanks for your help! – KK
