Check out the images on wix.com – they are “giving away” some of my images, no idea how they got them but they certainly do not have a licence. They are very difficult to communicate with – eventually sent the invoice to their “abuse” department and they just came back wanting more information then ignored me.

Am now trying to contact them via Twitter but it might be worth making sure they have none of anyone else’s pictures. To find them you have to log in, go to their website templates and then edit the template to add a new picture from their free !!!!!!! library

Have you tried a DMCA takedown notice? It would seem to have more chance of stopping your images being abused in the short run rather than trying to get money from them

They wanted me to send the information to their DCMA section but after asking for more information have not responded for 10 days, my images are still on their site. I started by sending invoices to people using them without licences (as is my normal practice depending on use) and then discovered that most got them from Wix – one “photographer” is even claiming they are their images on their site !!

I have now sent twitter message to Wix in hope that will get them moving.

Join imagerights.com and have them evaluate the case.
Are your sure wix.com couldn’t have licensed your images from a micro stock site?

Even if they had they have no right to give them away. No, these images have been purchased on standard licences in the past, not extended and not as often as they are appearing in various sites.

Interesting about imagerights.com I may have to bite the bullet at some point and register all my images with the US copyright office and others around the world

Got there in the end and have now been paid the amount I originally invoiced them for less half the bank transfer fee. They get to continue to use the images they have for a limited time at a limited size so there was give and take on both sides
