Is there a way to have more than 1 sub menu? by which I mean if I have a button on the Main Menu called ‘Image Categories’ then off this menu I was to have another option called ‘Browse by Colour’ and then from this a menu that has a list of colour categories, I can only get the menu to show 1 sub category!

You can on the main menu page

I am having all sorts of menu/category problems as they keep disappearing (wordpress problem I think) but cannot get sub menus in the header menus at present, not sure how others are doing

    MinkyMoo,

I had 5 main categories and 2 layers of subcategories under each of those (ie: Places > Arizona > Grand Canyon) and thought that was how my site would logically lay out.

But then… pouff! WordPress shut them all down. They literally disappeared. Everything. Categories and subcategories alike. Apparently, I had too many of the latter and WP didn’t like it. There’s some magic line that you don’t know exists until you cross it and your entire organization vanishes in a second.

So, yes, you should be able to have categories and subcats, and if you keep them to 2-3 dozen (or whatever the magic number actually is) you should be fine. But venture too far over that limit and you may watch your work vanish before your eyes.

    Word to the wise. 🙂

Its really annoying, However I change the menu’s I can only get the main menu and 1 layer of sub menu’s!
e.g. Browse Images>Abstract, I’ll find a work around for just having 1 sub menu, but just very frustrating!

On my site I’ve chosen only the major/important categories and then at the very top of my pull down menu created a link to the page with ALL the categories on it. Have a look and see if it might work for you. ( http://stockyimage.com/ )

I’ll probably do something similar, how did you get the line in the menu in between the Full categories and Architecture?

I like the use of the small icons you have on each category, not sure if the Stocky Image and Talk to Me ones on the top menu are working correctly, hover over them and you’ll see what I mean.

Which plugin are you using for the social buttons at the bottom of the page?

Thanks for point it out. I tried to use icons on that top menu but they don’t show up and instead as a hover it shows the icon code LOL! I just changed it. I have the Site name as a link there because on small screen sizes the header and logo disappears so I stuck the link/name back to the front page so it appears top most of the page on small screen.

Leo had some links to a site that explained it but I can’t recall the post. I saved the links though so I’ll post them here for you…

For the divider… “Simply add a Link menu item with a URL of # and a Link Text or Title Attribute of divider (case-insensitive so ‘divider’ or ‘Divider’ will both work ) and the class will do the rest.”

Ok for the social buttons, it’s all done via Jetpack plugin if I am not mistaken under the “Sharing” subsection. It is basically attached to pages and posts where you can leave a comment/Share.
