this page is a draft and is currently being expanded.

    Symbiostock Main Administration Window (Bee)

This is where the majority of Symbiostock administrative options located.

    SYMBIOSTOCK (BEE) OPENING SCREEN

    Kerioak4.jpg[/attachment:1ifmgwxq]

Here you choose whether to be part of the Symbiostock Network or to go it alone. Select your option and Save.

If you choose to be part of the Network and click Activate more options will appear at the top of the NETWORK TAB and in your profile in the WordPress User section. My advice would be to get your site set up before you add anyone to your network so that clients see a functional site, not a part finished one (I know they are never finished because you add more images but the layout should be functional)

    TAB: NETWORK

Symbiostock Network – Associates and Status

Under here will see a grey box with “my site” written after it, click the + sign to bring up a space to add a network member.

    Kerioak5.jpg[/attachment:1ifmgwxq]

”There are various ways of finding Symbiostock users to network with:

    * Via the forum at http://symbiostock.org/community/ Symbiostock.org/community/, here you can get to know other members and let everyone know you are open for business and would like links back to your site as well.

    * Via the Global Symbiostock search at http://symbiostock.info Symbiostock.info, here you will find all the ever growing list of sites listed and find some that either match your images or cover subjects that yours do not, or people whose work you like and would like to show your customers.

    * Via Cascoly’s http://cascoly.com/symbio/symbiostock-analysis.asp network analytic’s pages

    Either:

    * Click on the greyed out blue cross to bring up a text box. If you know the name type the full address of the site you would like to link to into the box then select the “Update Symbiocards” box – scroll down and click Save

    Or:

    * Click on one of the links on the directory pages of a site/click on the drop down author box and select author page, then select Author Attributes and Symbiocard, scroll down to get Symbiocard and save it to your computer, Browse and upload it to the space provided.

    Your Site Info

How your site appears to others.

    Kerioak6.jpg[/attachment:1ifmgwxq]

    Author Settings

How you wish your name to appear (based on information in the User section)

    Site Name

How you wish your site name to be described

    Promoted Keywords

Use up to (currently) 40 keywords to describe images you have, especially if you specialise. These keywords will help you network a step further than people linking directly to you.

    Content Filtering

See the “rating” link (Symbiostock Help File Tab) for information as well.

    * Green – safe for everyone and everywhere – Viewable by all audiences.

    * Yellow – not for children and many work environments – Content rated YELLOW may contain individuals who are minimally clothed (e.g., low cut tops, underwear or revealing bathing suits). Content rated YELLOW should not contain nudity, including exposed buttocks, genitalia, or areola.

    * Red – Not safe for work, may well contain nudity – Shows exposed areas including exposed buttocks, genitalia, or areola

You can set whether to allow unrated content (members are requested to rate their images as they upload them) or not.

You can set keywords that will prevent others images from appearing on your site – think carefully about this and the different uses of the words, it was created for words associated with nudity

    Site Announcement

If you wish to announce discounts etc (Not Yet Implemented)

    Site Description

General description of your site, as it appears to the network adverts.

    Site Avatar

    32 x 32 pixels. – your network avatar

    Site Logo

128 x 128 pixels – This is the little branded box that shows in dropdown box of your search results on your network associate’s sites. You will find a link to templates for all the logos and Avatars at the top of the network page.

    Use the Symbiostock Network?

If you wish to use the network and link to others and have them link to you then select Activate, if you wish to go it alone then select Deactivate (by doing the latter you will miss out on what this theme is all about

Most important on every page! SAVE CHANGES.

    TAB: SETTINGS

Templates for logos and watermarks are available from the PSD and JPG/AI and EPS link at the top of the page. Create and save them in the media area or a specific file – make a note of the URL’s . These will be the branding images for your site.

Again this page has detailed help links in blue italic links

    Site Search Settings

    800px-Kerioak7.jpg[/attachment:1ifmgwxq]

”(Available with [http://www.symbiostock.com/products-page/upgrades-and-plugins/premium-upgrade/ Symbiostock Professional] Plug-in)”

    * Select if you wish to search in Titles and Content as well as keywords

    * Choose whether you wish to search by Word Boundaries (complete words) or Partial Words.

In my opinion word boundaries is preferable even though it may not pick up plurals if there are more than one of something in your image. This is because the keyword “man” would also pick up “woman, manager, dobermann” and any other word containing the letters “man”

    Daily Image Update

Run Daily Image update for network and connected search engines

Select yes if you are updating your site on a daily basis

Selecting No reduces the processing and bandwidth needs of your site if you do not update regularly

    Symbiostock Customizer

Keep Off if you have specific child theme setups that you do not wish to be over-ridden by the customiser

(The Customizer is under Appearance and is very use for setting the main colours and layout of your site

    Product Table “Cart” Button Name

This is the name given to the button under the pricing table on Image Pages, you could call it Download/Click to Go To Payment/Go to Cart/Please Buy Me – whatever you wish.

    Header Logo

    799px-Kerioak8.jpg[/attachment:1ifmgwxq]

Add the url to your site logo that will appear at the top of every page.

    Login Page Logo

Add the url to the image that will appear when you log in – especially useful if you have more than one site as you will know you are in the right place smile

    Watermark Image

Add the url for the watermark that will appear on all of your images. I would suggest that you try this out on just a few images to start with until you are perfectly happy with it (you can change the watermark on existing images in the Stock Images (ladybird) section – go to All Images and at the top of the page you will see a drop down box with “Bulk Actions” select Reprocess, tick the boxes of the images you wish to reprocess and click Apply

    Email and Payment Process Communication

    PAYPAL

The paypal ipn section fills in automatically

You just add the email address associated with your paypal account.

With Premier and Business Accounts you can get Paypal to auto return your customers to the Customer and File management Area

Make a note of the URL for your Customer & File Management Page

    # Go to – Paypal->Profile->My Selling Preferences

    # Find – Website preferences: Bring customers back to my website after they pay with PayPal.

    # Click Update

    # Select Auto Return

    # Add the URL for your Customer & File Management Page in the box.

    # Scroll to the bottom of the page…

    # SAVE

    Currency

Choose your currency from the drop down list

    Correspondence Email

This will be the email address for all Symbiostock communications such as new subscribers, and those welcome messages telling you you have a sale (what it is and who to)

    Customer Area Greeting

Say something nice – this will be what people see between choosing their images and paying for them.

    Customer Welcome Email

This is the message that will go in the email sent to new subscribers – those people who may buy fom you

    Customer Thank You Email

This is the thank you message that is included in the message to your customers – there are automatically links to your site and EULA so do not worry about adding those – just say something nice

    Credit Links

Please keep these they help keep the theme free

    Footer Copyright Info

Your own or business name that appears in the footer of every page

    Most Important! SAVE CHANGES

    TAB: AUTHOR OPTIONS

    Author Default Settings and Pricing

    Image Status

    * Exclusive: Your images are only available on your Symbiostock site (Setting does not currently “stick” when Save as Defaults is selected)

    * Not Exclusive Your images are available for licence/sale elsewhere such as stock sites.

    * Live/Not live

** Live: for when you are ready to sell/licence your images to customers.

** Not Live:’ If you are not yet ready to sell, or do not have enough images up or your site ready yet. Very useful also if you just wish to display the images you have on stock sites. You can link to them further down the page in the Referral Links area

    * Rank: For ranking your images on your own site, it is recommended that you set the default at 2 as this will be most of your images. Then later when you are editing individual images you can select those you wish to come at the front of your searches as 1 and those that are maybe not the best sellers as 3. There is no benefit to setting them all as 1.

    * Rating: Nudity filter – see the Symbiostock blue link for details as Leo has explained it with a diagram better than I can here.

    * Prices and Options: Set the global prices for your images/items and select from the drop down boxes. If for instance you do not wish to sell/licence blog sized images then de-select appropriately. Make sure your prices are in the format 00.00 if you only use 00 your prices with be £00.10 for instance instead of £10.00.

    * Default Size Settings: Think about the sizes of the images you wish to make available – the blog size is great for illustrations but if you do detailed photos it can be a little small and you might need to thing about editing it, likewise if you/or your camera produce large images you might want to make the medium a little larger so there is not such a bit jump in size.

    Image SEO (search engine optimisation)

    Append Text to Title

Add the text in the box that you wish to appear after each image to help SEO for instance, stock photos, great images, images by **, royalty free images ~ latter not really recommended as you will get lots of people coming to you looking for free images plus, many of the network members are deliberately not using the terminology of “royalty free” anywhere within their sites.

    Image Comments

Do you wish to allow people to comment on your images, you can set WordPress to moderate these so they do not show up automatically.

    Legal

    Model Released?

For commercial purposes you should obtain model releases for all your models to protect you against possible lawsuits if anything goes wrong. If you have a model release select Yes, if not and it is a person, select No, if it is not a person then select N/A

    Property Released

Like people some objects/places/property should have releases to be used commercially – select Yes-No-N/A as applicable.

For images with people/property that do not have releases many of us are marking them as Editorial .

    Referral Links

If your images are exclusive elsewhere or if you just wish to display for some reason and sell though stock sites then add the link to your portfolio(s) here

    Available Licenses

(Available with [http://www.symbiostock.com/products-page/upgrades-and-plugins/premium-upgrade/ Symbiostock Professional] Plug-in – do not currently “stick” when save as defauts is selected)

The licences you create will be listed here.

    Save as defaults

(Will apply to uploads as well). Tick this box if you wish the above settings to apply to all future images,

note that it does not currently work for Exclusive/Non-exclusive and licences)

Tick box if you wish to update all existing images with the new values – make sure you do wish to SET EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOUR IMAGES TO THE ABOVE SETTINGS

    Most important! SAVE CHANGES

    TAB: MARKETING

Fairly self explanatory. This will update every 24 hours, if you wish it to update before then , make your selections and SAVE selections at the bottom of the page.
