This is an important thread. Please discuss and agree on features you’d like to KEEP in the new version of Symbiostock.

Features that are important to you, that you cannot live without. Also name strengths you appreciate.

I will be referencing this thread and keeping a list that way we do not miss any important features in the Improved/Cloud version.

If any moderators could help me update the list that would be wonderful.

    – Customization: that I can have my own watermark, logo, header on the front page, menus, licenses, etc. Have my own Categories for images (I could live with a small required subset).

    – Network search if nothing is found on my site
    – phrase searches (I know it’s premium, but thought it’s worth mentioning)
    – similar images
    – latest images
-widgets to put various features (like similar or latest images) on our own pages
    -Batch editor

This is very hard to answer, because I’ve no idea what is expected to stay no matter what, and what might disappear if no one speaks up because they didn’t think to mention that item.

    But for what it is:
-All of the previously mentioned items
-payment and download system built-in at least as much as it is now
-ability to adjust appearance and add content on every page
    -batch editing/processing
    -automatic watermarking
    -automatic sizing of download choices
-defaults that work (pricing, sizing, exclusivity)
    -customizable menus, layouts
-twitter poster, even better if it includes other social media as well
-customizable header and footer (adding menus to footer is helpful)
-control over who else shows up in your searches is nice
-a search engine that doesn’t exclude images for “waterfalls” if you search for “waterfall”, as an example– a smarter search, that’d give the same result for each of those
-a less finicky image processing engine would be nice, but can live with what we’ve got
-being able to set our own keywords for images
    -automatic image sitemap generation
    -built-in sharing buttons
    -automated emailer
    -user account management

That’s all I can think of for now.

Also noted. Keep them coming guys. This is really our chance to make this a polished gem, and remove the dross.

    +1

Leo, the question is almost too big for me to address. I like so much of this system! Much easier to point out the very few things I’m not as fond of.

This general stuff is good enough. The refined version is going to be much quicker and prettier…this stuff here is just helping me to know what I can scrap that nobody will miss.

I think that’s part of the worry some of us may be feeling.

As scenicoregon said, there’s a fear some really nice feature may disappear simply because it never occurred to one of us to mention it.

If it’s not too much to ask, would you be willing to mention a few of the features you’re considering for the scrap heap? It may be that something is so comfortable and natural that we may not be considering it a feature.

I like the Latest Images, Featured Images and Similar Images options but it would be nice to have an easy way to change the number of images shown.

I’ll give it some thought and add more to the list as they come to mind.

Yep, safe bet is to tell us whats on the chopping block, and then gather feedback. There will always be someone who misses something!

I’m really glad you are focusing on speed and looks. I think they are the two biggest areas of concern overall. Otherwise Symbio seems to be pretty good these days.

I’ll see about making a list no prob. Much of it I just have to mention when I come to it.

Difficult to say what I like MOST … I like almost everything at Symbiostock 😀
The few exceptions I’ve listed in the other thread …

All it was said before in this post. I’d add:
    1. Very important too diversification of image sizes. I need about 5-6 different sizes, that sizes we have now are not complete. I suggest something like this:

    Web (500 pixels)
    Large (1000 pixels)
    Small (1500 pixels)
    Medium (2500 pixels)
    Large (4000 pixels)
    Original size (4272 pixels)

    2. Also, a Rights Managed prices calculator type that one of Alamy it would be great! Rights Managed is a very complex licence and is not enough that we have only one price for it, there are thousands of combinations of uses and we must be professional.

    3. Also is a must the VAT and billing part and

    4. would be great the translation (even if it’s a hard part, I know). Automatic translation with the possibility to correct it manually directly online. For this please search in Google GT Translation tool of Eduard Ananyan maybe it can be integrated with Symbiostock, is a great tool based on automatic translation of Google but made in order that an user can edit the automatic translation manually directly online, going on the pages and correct words and phrases which Google translated bad. The system is remembering all the manually corrected translation. That tool is really great!

    5. Also, I’d like to see more flexible layouts, possibility of large wide screen and 4 columns in the page, responsive layout.

    6. [/size]

    7. And, I remembered now, a zoom feature at 100% for the images (type that one Fotolia has which shows portions of image at 100%) in order that a client can see very well the quality of images. This is very important too. Many clients don’t buy if they don’t see the quality.

Very good points! 1, 3, 5, 6 and 7 seem most important to me.

I love it all.. especially features like cart manager..

download expiration should be added.. some sort of a stats page is also a good idea..
