Unfortunately, now it’s too late. I’m stuck with a basic Symbiostock theme whether I like it or not, because the Jetpack option (and Im assuming other options will be the same) forces me to sign in to WordPress and fills in the username for me, which I cannot change. And WordPress will not accept it, because it wants me to use a different username from 8 years ago.
What next?
September 16, 2013 at 11:24 am #2557Hi all,
In order to get a feel for how symbiostock works for contributors, I’ve been trying to follow the step by step instructions to set up my own Symbiostock site and have run into problems. Jetpack installation prompts me to sign in to WordPress again, then WordPress won’t accept my new username and insists I use a name I set up many years ago. Now I’m realizing that of course I’ll need to write many pages of copy for the site, design a header and logo and watermark, upload and keyword my 3,000+ images, decide on pricing….it seems very daunting.September 16, 2013 at 11:12 am #2744No way, Jose. Not after this smackdown.
September 16, 2013 at 11:05 am #2770Oh, I see. I need to call blue host to transfer my domain. I’m trying to follw the instructions on the symbiostock site, and i don’t think that was mentioned. I’ll ask these questions in the marketing thread.
September 16, 2013 at 10:56 am #2769Yes, everything was going swimmingly until I got to Jetpack. I was already signed into WordPress and blue host, but to install Jetpack I was prompted to sign into WordPress again…and that’s when WordPress refused to accept the username I was already signed in with.
Question: I installed the Symbiostock and child themes, but when I visit my URL I just get the screen from godaddy saying the domain has been registered. Shouldn’t I be seeing the Symbiostock theme by now?
September 15, 2013 at 9:38 pm #2739Sorry! No more suggestions from me!
September 15, 2013 at 6:30 pm #2731The problem is that someone else could trademark it, then come along and sue you. How likely that is, I have no idea. But at least you know someone else hasn’t trademarked it yet.
September 15, 2013 at 2:48 pm #2555Have you guys trademarked the name Symbiostock yet? I did a trademark search and nothing comes up, so the name is trademark-free.
September 14, 2013 at 3:51 pm #2550Good point!

Ok I’ll try to take this one- I may miss something so if I do someone help me out.
FWIW I had zero experience with word press or coding prior to doing this.Step 1 – buy a domain- I used godaddy- about 10 minutes
Step 2 Set up Hosting – I used Bluehost- about 10 minutes
Step 3- Go to symbioguides.com and follow the instructions- http://www.symbioguides.com/ – about 30 minutes
This shows you how to download wordpress, download symbiostock themes, use your Bluehost account, set up paypal and other basic info.Note: I called Bluehost tech support for help and called paypal support for help – Both made it very easy and basically did it for me.
All in all about 1 hour of time spent before I could start modifying my site.
Step 4- Modify the site to look the way you want- I spent about 10 hours learning how to navigate wordpress and how to install widgets and get the site to work.
Step 5 – Upload images
Step 6 – Wait for Google to find your images and make some sales.
I know I am forgetting some things but this is really pretty simple.
Thanks! I see you’ve really written a lot of detailed instructions, have video tutorials, etc. I’ll look over everything and ask any questions I might have.
September 13, 2013 at 8:39 pm #2543Thanks….I’m really looking for step by step how Symbiostock works for contributors. I think a big thing holding people back is that it sounds difficult and complicated.

For buyers it’s quick and easy.
Search for an image -> pick the one you like -> choose the desired size -> put it into your cart (register with email or log in with social media account) -> Check out on Paypal payment page -> return to your customer area (cart area) where a download link is waiting for you
There’s no lightbox option…people can’t save images anywhere?
September 13, 2013 at 8:02 pm #2536Great! Thanks again. One last question. It’s a tough one.
For contributors: How does it work?
For buyers: How does it work?
September 13, 2013 at 7:09 pm #2533It would be great if I could get an average cost (may not be possible), or if I could say the site pays for itself within X amount of time…again, might not be possible.
September 13, 2013 at 5:37 pm #2527Thanks, all.
Next question:
For contributors: How much does it cost?
For buyers: How much does it cost compared to the competition?
