There’s a Vancouver, Washington and a Vancouver, Canada. They’re about a six hour drive apart.

while there is a Vancouver WA, only people from Portland are referring to it when they say ‘vancouver’ — we visit Vancouver often on our way to ski at whistler – it’s a lovely city, reminding me of Hong Kong with snow on its mountains

Niagara Falls in the spring is nice. Lot of water, blooms, winery tours, quaint towns, butterflies, and other attractions.
Close to Toronto and Buffalo (with many Jet Blue flights) airports.

Well, as long as we’re tossing out ideas, let me suggest my 400-year-old “city different”: Santa Fe, New Mexico, USA.

Great food. Great scenery. Great weather. Great historical and cultural attractions. Great almost everything! I’d be glad to make the local arrangements if Santa Fe turned out to be the top choice.
