Thank shelma, that’s what I did to create the menu buttons that aren’t circled but the other stuff was there ‘automagically’ and without going into the code I can’t find a way to turn it off. Could be a bug, I suppose but it was in the ‘stable’ version too. :-/
Okay now using 2.7.2 I’ve got the main nav bar with the links I want and there are still links to every page that was somehow auto generated.
Where is that turned off? A lot of the pages there are not ones that should be seen except when triggered by user activity.
I’m still in the set-up phase so I haven’t gotten into the potential email issues yet…but I will be sure to test *everything* before I turn on payments and such.
I just put the new beta on and so far it seems to work.
I had misread it and upgraded to 5.3 from 5.2… so I got my email this morning saying I was now on 5.4. What’s done is done I guess. :-/
What’s the best practice for going from 2.6.5 to 2.7.x? I’m not in production yet, so I’m not worried about putting the beta on I just want to minimize issues/data loss as much as possible.
The fact that self-hosted is ranking as 5th means people who maybe wouldn’t have considered before will start to wonder how. Symbio is a good way to go. What kept me from doing it a couple years ago was I didn’t want to spend the time developing the application to upload/process/watermark/publish images and the application to search/buy/download/track/etc images.
I hate doing the marketing because I feel very awkward about promoting my art & stock. Probably inherited that from my artist grandmother, who was amazingly talented and didn’t like selling her work because “Why do you want to pay money for that?!” *shaking head* My mother, on the other hand, (like many moms) will tell everyone and anyone that I’m a photographer/artist/etc and “Don’t you think you need ?”.
I find it hysterical because I’m not shy in the least but talking about what I’ve created makes me feel like a moron.
I like it…and we symbiotes could bring in that RSS feed to a dedicated “network” news page on our sites, yes? This could be a good way to promote each other as well.
ETA: I see there is a network feature in the newest version. Got it!
It’s a bit steep for me at the moment, but I closed my DT account and the payout from there will pay for it. If I were working it would be a minor thing, but right now… However, I decided I needed to do it because I’m selling more ELs on the micros I’m on…and I’d really like to have *all* of that for myself. *grumble* 460 credit sale on 123…$35 *grumble*.
I value what you’ve done here with Symbio so even though I love free and I don’t think I’ve ever bought a paid plug-in/theme for WP…I think it is worth the money. If people don’t invest time/money/etc into projects like this the developer has to walk away because they spend all their time doing ‘free’ support and have little time for things that make them money to pay their rent and feed their bodies and souls.
Then, I’ll be watching for my next Bluehost/Google promo card and doing it. 😉
I’d love to use the new version. By the time I’m ready to launch, I’m sure it will be the ‘stable version’ or near enough!
Does Premium work with the new version? Waiting on a couple payouts and then I’m going to spend the bucks…and pray I can recover the investment. 😉
2.6.5 is what it says on the theme page, just downloaded it last week and it seems to be the same version on github.
I tried to do just a basic multisite WP site and had *nothing* but problems. I decided it was easier to install multiple WP than mess with the headache. I suspect multisite is better suited to dedicated servers than the shared hosting most of us use.
What was your goal in using multisite? I decided I was trying to use a spade when I needed a rake and it just wasn’t the right tool for the job.
Yea, but weird. It felt really weird when I ended things with IS too…and they were first to go, but they cut commissions on non-exclusives and I hit payout while they were defending it. So, it was easier. FT was next, no qualms there.
DT was weird though… I don’t know why. I was never active on their forums, sales were miserable, draconian policies about not being able to disable files, suggesting really low ‘buyout’ rates. I calculated what they were selling my largest/best quality files for… $20..and I see maybe $2 of that… and it clicked.
I’m staying w/ 123 for up to another year. Had a big sale there that put me into a higher pay tier, so it seems worthwhile to stay as long as that is in effect…delaying payout for a while to see how the next month or two goes. SS performs so they’re safe. CS will go, eventually if I ever hit payout. BS is gonna go too…unless sales pick up there dramatically.
So, typing it all out made me feel ridiculous…ever feel like that? It’s done now…it’s too much to wish for but I’d love to see a giant “Deactivate my whole portfolio” button, this 4 clicks required to disable is insane…and some files I disabled and then refreshed and they were back…
Seems so strange. I’ve been there since 2004…sales were never good for me there. Spent some time ignoring stock and came back one day to find half my portfolio available free… sooo, that is the third agency I’ve fired. I have a two on the chopping block when I hit payouts there, but at least I don’t have to wait 6 months to disable at those…so I can keep uploading new stuff until the day I hit payout.
Muhahaha!
Now, I’ll have some money to invest towards symbio AND one less site selling my stuff.
I’d love to start with the Premium plug-in but unless I get an employment offer right quick I’ll be continuing to live on $200-$300 a month and my mother’s kindness.
