Awesome, so the file is already there, it just needs to get to the right place. 🙂 Score.

It is necessary, because file with white screen issue – symbiostock_image_download.php (which was fixed in 2.7.9) is copied to wp-content folder only during “full upgrade” – delete, install, activate.

This is something that should be posted somewhere prominently… or there will be a lot of posts like mine. I’m not trying to be argumentative just wishing there was a better way of disseminating this information than in a million threads. FTR, 2.7.9 never showed as an available upgrade from 2.7.7 (nor did 2.7.8) on my WP dashboard.

Could I download the full version (and if so…from where?) and upload the symbiostock_image_download.php file via ftp or file manager instead of deleting everything?

I’m concerned about losing the 8 hours of work I did yesterday in the process of deleting the symbio theme and replacing it.

To fix this blank screen issue, upgrade procedure should be like from 2.6.5 to 2.7 or 2.8:
Activate default theme (for example Twenty Twelve), delete Symbio 2.8, then upload it again. Then try in php 5.4, should be ok.

I was already on 2.7.7 when I went to 2.8, so I don’t think that is necessary. It was the jump from 2.6 to 2.7 that “broke” things.

My Bluehost cpanel says PHP is 5.3.27…

    Don’t trust the cpanel.

You’re right of course. It was showing php 5.4 when I went to the php management screen. I switched to the single php.ini version of 5.4 but that didn’t seem to help.

They let me roll back to 5.3 and it works… soooo I’ll send them an email and tell them not to ‘fix’ my site again, tyvm.

Upgraded to 2.8 and I still get the blank page for the download image. 🙁

My Bluehost cpanel says PHP is 5.3.27 so I guess this isn’t the 5.4 issue?

    Any ideas?

It would probably be advantageous, I used to do it with dollars – then there is only one conversion fee instead of (hopefully) many. I only accept sterling now so the buyer pays the fees

You can set your account to only accept one currency? Do you know where that control is? Nice to have the option to tell the buyer to pay the fees (to protect your bottom line).

My thought is that if you aren’t dealing with the conversion on the $3 sale and instead could wait until you wanted to cash out the account..when the peso is stronger vs when it is weakest and reduce the international trans fee to one time (or avoid it by purchasing something in USD). Right now, my mom is in Mexico and is getting 13 pesos to the dollar. When I was there this time last year it was closer to 11 pesos to the dollar. Not a huge amount, but I suspect it adds up rapidly for those who do the change regularly.

Again, not sure it would work but judging from my sales on the big SS I would be best off with an account in Euros if I didn’t use my Paypal for anything else. I might call them and ask at some point in the future…this might even add an option for internationalizing our sites and translating content (Google translate plug-in that converts keys to the language of your choice? Ha!) like some of the ‘big’ sites do.

I have a feeling the USD is about to tank, so it’s something to consider. :-/ I love my country, I want to throttle my government reps.

Not sure if it is true for international transactions or not, but I’ve never been charged when I did a refund.

If you want to test yourself, put your site back into sandbox mode and go to: https://developer.paypal.com/webapps/developer/applications/accounts

You’ll use your real email to sign up and then an alternative addy to use as a test account.

Then, register (or use your master acct) on your site and go through the buy process. You’ll see if you get the emails sent out, how they’re formatted and if the user can download.

As to the mystery sign-ups, if you look at the user names and email address, if they don’t relate to each other…odds are the spam bots have found you. :-/ They use the bots to register in the hopes that you have your WP settings set so they can take over your account and post rubbish.

Alright, I’ll plan on applying the update in the morning. And maybe finishing the images I’ve uploaded and pushing them to “live”…and doing my slideshow which I have no idea what I want it to say or look like…but I’ll pull something out!

This is one of those moments where I can be glad I’m unemployed and have time to do all this work. If I was working 40 hours, it would *never* happen!

I love improvements and Leo is working hard for the bucks he’s making off this project. I’m happy I was able to make the leap towards Premium and offer a little incentive for his hard work. And what’s next? WP will have a new version out! LOL 😉

I’m not showing an update from 2.7.7…so where is the super secret squirrel download for 2.7.9?

When did 2.7.9 come out? I just updated yesterday?! I do have php 5.4 Bluehost upgraded everyone who hadn’t already done so. I’m not complaining about updates, really I’m not…it’s just one of those “wordpress” gripes…I remember when WP seemed to have an update every week.

Okay, I guess I just missed the update stuff link when I was keywording/seo’ing a bunch of images today.

The new 2.7.x with the customizer is pretty nifty…and is a pretty clean layout to get started with. I would try with that before spending money on the Clean Theme. The money you save you can put towards Premium and add extended licenses and such.
